Green eyes watched Foxkit scamper out of the nursery with neither annoyance nor amusement, just a fickle sense of curiosity. Though the attention Viperkit gave to him, was quickly snapped up by the critters that bumbled across her field of vision. She was captivated, which annoyed her because truthfully bugs were far below the stature of nobility she and her kin commanded. Everything ate bugs basically, as was the way of life, and WindClan ate what they could bring down- most of which also ate the bugs, or ate something that ate the bugs. Even bugs ate other bugs. The young molly was entranced, unable to tear her beady eyes from their marching, all the while tail ticking in frustration at her uncontrollable wonder. She would have stayed, captivated, if not for the call of their sibling, supplementing her name for something more crude.

Viperkit wasn’t going to refuse his invitation, when she was leader Foxkit would be one of her chief advisors, perhaps deputy. Although any number of her blood kin would be a good deputy. Leadership was a family business. Rapidfire was their cousin and their dad had named her deputy, but that was only because he didn’t have kits yet to pass it on to. Until she was a warrior and could take up the mantle Rapidfire was an excellent substitute. Upon settling next to the ginger kit she was hit with a barrage of questions and information. Some of which was just utter drivel to her, but a good leader listened and answered their subjects worry. Even if that worry was about being turned into a worm.

A pleasant grin warmed Viperkit’s face ”I think as cats we shouldn’t concern ourselves with the affairs of bugs and the likes.” she answered holding her head head in a dignified, regal manner. Silly queries were above her, though she was a little interested in where they were going with this spiel. An ear flickered, and she spoke once more, voice lacking the tone of importance she’d conjured before ”Wait! If you became a worm would I know? If I didn’t know i’d probably ignore you, the birds would probably end up getting you, and then I’d get the birds. We’d kind of be even then. Why can’t you be a more… More fierce bug, or more pretty, or more important critter? If I was a bug I’d make sure I wasn’t a lame one.”

Viperkit cringed at Foxkit’s boisterous reaction, she couldn’t believe he thought she was the crazy one. Her answer was fair and sensible; predators do not concern themselves with the affairs of prey. She shook her head, huffing. If she spent all her time up in the clouds like Foxkit did he would never be leader. Their attempts to prove their point did little to change the snooty kit’s mind. ”If all bugs are so cool you must want fleas then!” giggled Viperkit, hopefully that sentiment would help guide them. And if he still rebutted then she would have to come to term with the reality of having flea bitten mousebrain for a sibling, which was less than ideal. She had to remind herself that Foxkit, and even herself, were still young, he was yet to truly be a total lost cause. She only wished to snuff out his idiocy so that she could help him become a great warrior, one day they would thank her.

Viperkit felt bad for being so superior when the russet kit began to speak again. Her brother was sweet, and she couldn’t help but chuckle slightly at his earnestness. Their mention of wanting to be a spider… Or whatever nasty creepy crawly it was, was reassuring. Foxkit at least held some desire to be a predator, a warrior, even if only in bug form, that Viperkit could cope with. The conversation, naturally returned back to her, and her chest puffed proudly at their suggestion. They were quite right she would definitely be something fierce. For a moment, Viperkit imagined herself as the widow Foxkit had conjured, scurrying around on her 8 legs, spinning webs, waiting for her prey. Hmmm, she wasn’t sure she liked waiting, her brow furrowed trying to think of a more active bug. Then it came to her, Vipekit’s face twisted into one of glee ”Widows are cool and all, but I’d rather be a hornet. A hornet queen specifically, there’s no crawler more fierce than that!” Suddenly, she pounced on Foxkit ”Feel my sting, Foxkit!”
