The camp had been quiet, a dark cloud seeming to hang over Windclan despite the sunshine that warmed Brackenwing's fur as she sat outside the den she shared with Whisperear. There had been so much loss recently, though Brackenwing herself had only known Sootstorm particularly well.
That she had returned to a clan of mostly strangers was not lost on Brackenwing. The irony of having left a clan of what had felt like mostly strangers wearing the faces of cats she knew, to returning to a camp full of unfamiliar faces, was not lost on her. Of the few she did know beyond Sootstorm and Tigerstar, the list was limited to Coyotegrin and her surviving kits. Though she hadn't exactly been close with any of them when she had left.
It was with some surprise that the elder realized a cat had approached her at all, and more still to find the one who approached was indeed one of Coyotegrin's. Eaglefly, if she remembered.
"Hey," There was a mix of weariness and wariness in her tone, having not known the tom well. And given how things had ended with his parents - though at least Coyotegrin seemed to be friendlier than she recalled... "Been a long time, hasn't it?"
