Subject: How Far Blood Goes [Mutiny/Nightbird] Wed 1 May 2024 - 18:34
"Through here," The walk back to camp hadn't been very long, but with the looming threat, the tension within Wolfstar's shoulders did not release until the patrol was safely within the camp walls.
"Nightbird!" The leader called, "Come here," Maybe some cats would have jumped out of their pelts if they heard their leader come back from a patrol and call them into the leader's den, but Wolfstar liked to think most of her warriors weren't too afraid of her. Waving her tail at Mutiny to come inside the den as well, Wolfstar sat, fluffy tail curling over her paws.
"You aren't in trouble," She nodded at Nightbird when he entered the den, "I found someone while patrolling earlier, and we wound up talking. She has questions." Wolfstar would let Mutiny speak for herself.

Nightbird had been somewhat peacefully enjoying his prey in a small sunspot near the outskirts of camp when Wolfstar entered camp with a cat that smelled… vaguely familiar, but clearly of rogue. Just that was enough to make the tom cock his head and wonder what might be going on, but the way she nearly immediately called his name stopped any thoughts he might have had about it in their tracks. What in StarClan’s name had he done to require that type of urgency in her tone? He wasn’t going to test his luck by making her wait, that much was certain. He quickly buried the remains of his meal and rose to his paws, having to consciously flatten his pelt as he made his way towards the den the two mollies had just walked into.
Immediate relief flooded every nerve in Nightbird’s body at her assurance that he was not, in fact, in trouble. That was quickly replaced by confusion as she explained what the other she-cat was doing in camp. He followed Wolfstar’s gaze over to her, taking in her silver pelt and oddly familiar eyes. What questions could she possibly have for a cat she’d never met before? Or… at least he thought they’d never met? ”Um… Okay. I… I’m sorry, I’m not sure if I have the answers you’re looking for. I’ll try my best, though.” His confusion was evident on his face as he looked at the strange she-cat, tail tip twitching in anticipation of… Whatever it was she had to ask him.

Mutiny trailed hesitantly after Wolfstar, head ducked a little low as tiny prickles of nervousness stung her belly. So this was where the wildcats lived? It was... really pretty. Very different from home. Cats of all ages milled about, seemingly at peace with each other. They didn't seem all that scary, given what she had been told by some of the other cats back home. Her steps slowed for just a moment as she took it all in, but quickly she picked up her pace to catch up to Wolfstar. She didn't want to fall too far behind. Ducking into the den, she watched the tom Wolfstar called for enter behind them.
He looked... a lot like her.
Face to face with the tom who just might be her father, she was suddenly at a loss for words. What did she say? Surprise, I might be your daughter. I had a disagreement with my mom who you haven't so much as spoken to in who knows how long and basically ran away from home. How's it going?
Yyyyeah, that would go over well.
Taking a steadying breath, she tried a slightly different approach. "Hi, my name is Mutiny. This is really sudden, I know, but do you... Well, uh... Have you ever met someone named Calliope?"

Nightbird's confusion was clear, and Wolfstar couldn't blame him for that. She was a little confused herself, really, but this was a conversation best had between the two loner and possible... Father.
"I'll... Let you two talk. Just no bloodshed in my den, please." Though neither of them seemed the sort... Still.

"Well, uh... Have you ever met someone named Calliope?"
Nightbird's ears turned back against his skull, posture sagging slightly at the mention of her name. As much as he tried to fight it, he broke eye contact with the younger molly and his gaze drifted down to the dusty ground underpaw. Calliope. How could she possibly know about Calliope? The lump in his throat once caused by confusion turned into what felt like a boulder of concern and... guilt? Though it was only a few tension-ridden moments, it felt like ages before he was able to muster up the courage to say anything.
"How do you know Callie?" He said simply, minding his body language a little more and straightening up. He did not know who this new she-cat was... He didn't want to say too much. He'd tell Wolfstar everything later.... Stars, if she didn't exile him first. It wasn't like he didn't deserve it.

He recoiled almost instantly and Mutiny felt her stomach drop. What if... she was the reason he left? What if he wanted nothing to do with her? She hadn't even thought about those potential outcomes before. What if she made things worse for him by showing up here? The she-cat kicked herself for not thinking through this a tad more before traveling who knows how long to get here.
She hesitantly continued, visibly nervous now. "She's my mom. Uh... follow up question. Do you uh, know someone named Bird?"

Calliope... Callie, a... nickname? Nightbird clearly knew the she-cat's mother, to call her that. Wolfstar ducked her head, keeping her mouth shut. Family, it seemed, had a way of finding each other. And, now that she was looking at the two side by side, Mutiny did indeed look rather a lot like Nightbird.
"Bird, huh?" The leader murmured, whiskers twitching. "He's the only 'bird' in our clan at the moment. Well, if you take the name literally. And this Callie... Calliope? Was your mother?" She glanced from Nightbird to Mutiny once more as the likely realization dawned on her. "You two look... Similar." She added, almost hesitantly.
"What you discuss is between the two of you. If..." Another pause as she glanced between her clanmate and the outsider, "If you would like to stay until you both have hashed things out, you are welcome to provided you do not cause trouble. We're a clan, we provide and protect our own, as I'm sure you noticed on the way in." It was a warning, yes... But if Mutiny was indeed of Skyclan heritage, then Wolfstar would extend the same to her, if she decided to join them. But it was Mutiny's decision to make.

Mutiny nodded at Wolfstar a little shakily. She would like to see what kind of life it was that her father lived. The life he left her for. Maybe... maybe she would even have a chance to find herself here.
Maybe.
"Y-yeah... Thank you. I don't know how much help I'll be, but I'll do what I can if that's alright?"

"We can set you up with a nest among the apprentices, there are a few around your age." Wolfstar mewed, glancing between Mutiny and Nightbird. "I won't ask you to take a clan name or undergo formal apprentice training unless you actually commit to staying with us and learning our way of life, though some of our clanmates will find your current name... Strange. They'll behave themselves as I expect you to if you are going to stay, even temporarily. No claws." She mewed. "For now, I'd say that your f- Nightbird can help you get acquainted with things."
"I... Should probably let my deputy Falconmoon know. I... Try not to make unilateral decisions but, well. This was certainly unexpected." The leader mewed with a soft laugh.
