SHELLKITto all the days we were together ★
Feral / Forest
Shellkit was finding that, while she loved rain, she was not fond of the darkness it brought. She longed for the heat of the sun, beating down on her rough pelt, warming her from the outside in. It always made her drowsy and made for good nap time with her siblings and their parents. Falling asleep with Vinecrawler was especially her favorite thing. She always felt like she blended right in to his pelt, which was great when she was picking out her next target for pouncing later on after nap time.

Her next target had been decided in such a manner. Yesterday morning, she'd decided on Auburnflare, but with the rain she hadn't gone outside. She didn't want to muddy her paws, which would probably make for too much splashing later on, and didn't want her pelt to get soggy again. Now that the rain had stopped, the ground was still muddy, but at least the few rays of sunlight filtering through the clouds had made the ground harden. Perfect for creeping.

Now that he was idling in camp, doing whatever - she hadn't bothered checking - she made her way towards him as quietly as possible. Once she reached him, she pounced, forepaws outstetched in an attempt to leap onto his back. Unfortunately, her legs were too short and lacked the power they needed to make such a leap. It left her dangling from his rump, thorn-sharp claws digging in with a fierce mewl. "Foxdung!" She cursed, her hind paws pedaling vainly in the air.

Auburnflare was also enjoying the brief reprieve from the rain. How Riverclan could tolerate, even like, padding around with a sodden pelt was beyond him. He'd spend the day between patrols and training, straining his muscles and exhausting his pelt. Stretching out with a mouse at his paws, the brown and white warrior intended to renew his strength. Just before he could dip his head to take a mouthful from the tantalizing creature, a stinging sensation like thorns in his haunches caused his head to snap up and look back.

The cry of foxdung! confirmed his immediate suspicions. A kit had made him a target. Auburnflare shook out his frame in an attempt to dislodge Shellkit. His former mentor, to his surprise, had sired a litter of feral kits. Genuinely, he'd never thought of the tom as the romantic type but was supportive of the idea nonetheless. Although, it had lead camp to be full of mischievous little creatures once again. Whiskers twitched in amusement as he remembered when Hopepaw was this age.

"You know, Shellkit, a good warrior knows not to take on prey that's too big for their maw." Ignoring the protest in his muscles as he crouched down, the tom's tail waved playfully in the air as he dared the bold attacker to strike once more.

"Too big?" She echoed once she'd been dislodged from the big tom's rump, landing awkwardly on her paws. "I would share you with my whole family! Not too big!"

Her eyes followed his waving tail, pupils contracting and dilating to hone in on the tempting appendage. This was far more do-able, as much as she hated to admit. She leapt up at his tail, pouncing on the tip. Instead of biting, she took to sniffing it curiously. ThunderClan for sure. "You smell like sunshine. Is your name Ambersun?"
