"Left foot in the dark 'cause I'm sunnyside up!"
Fish T2 Rogue | Rogue | he/him
Fish slipped around a bank of stones, scrambling around and half-over them in his haste to return to camp. "Maggot!" He called out. A few other heads rose to investigate his squeaking, but Fish paid them no mind. There was only one cat on his mind for the moment. He trotted through camp, poking his head between crevices and into dens until he found the thin, wriggly shape of his sibling hidden between a group of rocks and shade. "There you are. Maggot, hey!" His tail lifted in greeting and Fish squinted warmly at them. "I found something really cool out by the road. I think you'll like it. Wanna come check it out with me?"

Maggot
Hello little bug. They sniffed the tiny creature carefully with a vibrant pink nose, their whiskers quivering once touching the caterpillar's back. It inched strong and quickly. Good job little caterpillar. But unfortunately for you, not good enough. With a single swift bite, the inchworm was gone. They licked their lips in pleasure.
Then their ears flicked. "Maggot!" someone familiar called out. The pale-pelted juvenile remained still, their paws tucked underneath themselves. They could feel their ribs pressing rhythmically against their pads. Suddenly Fish peered around the corner. Maggot's eyes lit up. She hadn't imagined it, someone actually was looking for her. "Hi Fish!" she said with a smile. Her expression grew intense at her brother's offer, pupils even wider than when she was in the shade. Bouncing to Fish's side with her tail wagging Maggot eagerly mewed, "Yes! Let's go quickly!"

FISH
Now I face out, I hold out...
Fish met Maggot’s appearance with a grin and an eager nod. ”Alright, alright--come on, then!” He turned on his pads and hurried away. Thankfully, it was easy for him to reach the road: it was within sight of camp, so he never had to worry about losing his way. Fish skipped over rocks and open fields until they reached the edge of the road, where he paused to look left and right. A car came roaring by, harsh winds tugging through his fur as it ripped past. He looked side to side again until he let out a quiet, excited, ”Oh!” Looking back at maggot, he smiled again and said, ”I see it! Come this way.”
There was a dark shape laying in the middle of the road further to the right. Once he was sure no more cars were coming, Fish leapt onto the hard stone and hurried over to it. He was pretty sure the animal was a raccoon--or at least, it had been. Its body was crushed now, entrails leaking out of its smashed middle. The body reeked. It was a disgusting, uneasy sight, one that made Fish’s stomach curl a little, but… it was interesting, too. He’d never seen the inside of something before; not in such definition, at least. If nothing else, he could stomach his discomfort for the fact that Maggot would appreciate it. He turned to his sibling with a wave of his tail and said, ”Well? Whaddaya think?”

Maggot
Fish led Maggot out of camp, something Maggot didn't usually do, but they were both eager. The pair's smaller counterpart whose fur shone under the mid-day light looked at the fields with a smile. They enjoyed the tall grass brushing against their scrawny legs as the two strode downhill towards the road. Maggot stayed glued to her brother's side when near the concrete. Suddenly a car hurdled past to try rustling their coiled neck fur. Maggot softly giggled in delight. Their nose wrinkled after smelling the fumes left in its wake. "Ehck, this smells just like the streets." Maggot much preferred the crisp air back home, at camp. But she had to see what Fish found before going back.
She matched his smile and together they approached the surprise. Her pupils swelled again once she realized what it was. A carcass! Maggot rushed over. They carefully stepped over the squishy spillage and pools of fluids. "What a mess," they muttered. The young feline crouched behind the creature who easily surpassed them in size. If this thing were alive, it could easily kill Maggot. What happened? they wondered, prodding its backside. When Fish spoke Maggot popped up from behind her investigations. "I think it's wonderful!" she purred, rejoining his side to hug his shoulder. "Thank you, Fish."
She waved her tail, inviting him to come admire the carcass closer. Maggot placed her fore-paws atop its back half, then looked back and forth between the long road's two ends like Fish had done. "Do you think one of those big predators killed it? Surely they could squish it easy-squeezy." She gently poked it's fluffy striped tail. "What is it anyway?"
