Oh? We're playing! [Open- Battle Rec]

Hopepaw had taken to waiting by the entrance of their camp, her blue eyes scanning each cat who approached and left. Each time a group went to leave, she followed after. Either to be turned away or carried back in the case of Mother. She was getting too big for that now. She huffed a low whine, reflecting how she felt inside. Did no cat want her around? The thought knawed at Hopepaw until she shook herself. No, they just might be too busy. Sure. Maybe.

The heaviness to her shoulders vanished when another cat strolled around the corner. Indeed, she could go with this time, right?

Sageroot’s ears pricked up as a barely audible whine drifted her way. Her head snapped to attention, homing in on the sound. Ah. Hopepaw. Poor kid. Sageroot wished she could explain it all to her, tell her why the world was the way it was. But neither language she knew would be helpful here. Still, she would try to help. The deputy got up and padded over to the young she-cat, motioning her out with a flick of her tail.

Hopepaw was right to trust that this one would let her go with them! She leaped to her paws, and a trill of excitement left her maw, followed by a heavy purr. The apprentice spun around the older cat, leaving a cloud of dust in her wake as she launched up the camp's entrance. At the top, she waited, white tail lashing in excitement. There was so much she wanted to go see! Maybe catch a few things! Maybe learn some other stuff! Who knows? The world was wide, and there were so many things to see!

ooc: I'd love to some sort of spar, or we can summon in a predator! Either one works. ^^

Sageroot smiled at Hopepaw’s enthusiasm. She was so eager to learn and participate, but she was different from other apprentices. Just like Wiggleworm… and Sageroot herself. An idea began to form and Sageroot kicked up a cloud of dust intentionally, swiping at it with her paws. She hoped the message would get across. With a smile and a purr, she landed the last soft bap on the apprentice’s shoulder.

Sageroot used Front Paw Blow, dealing 7 damage and costing 5 stamina. Please note that both cats have disabled stats and Sage was still T3 at the start of this topic.

Hopepaw blinked away the dust before the warrior smacked a paw against her shoulder. Bewildered for a moment, The apprentice backed away, stunned that an older cat would want to play. The look vanished after a quick moment. She loved to play! Her siblings taught her well! The apprentice went light on her feet, bouncing back and forth. Ducking low, she skirted past She Who Plays and took the other cat's tail in her maw and pulled, though not too hard to hurt her new friend.


Hopepaw uses Tail Yank on Sageroot! It deals 7 Damage, uses 15 stamina, and stuns Sageroot for one turn.

Sageroot let out a purr and a laugh. Hopepaw would be okay. They’d figure it all out together. She was skilled and intelligent, she just needed a way of communicating it. Communication… that gave her another idea. She’d work on it later. For now, she tensed a little, indicating that she hadn’t given up.

Sageroot is no longer stunned!

She Who Plays was a good sport. Sometimes, her siblings would not pretend to be stunned, which was no fun. But She Who Plays seemed much different! A trill escaped the apprentice as she leaped forward and gently nipped at the older cat's heels. It's been a while since New Sister could play, so having She Who Plays was such a blast. Despite herself, Hopepaw already felt a bit tired. But she didn't let it stop her yet!

Sageroot tried to keep her head in the game, but her mind whirred a tree-length a minute. She would find a way to reach Hopepaw, to communicate. She had to! Picking up one paw and then another, she purred in amusement as her legs were met with little teeth. She knew the apprentice couldn’t last much longer, so she’d take the chance to show her something. Rearing up, she brought her paws down on the apprentice’s shoulders and planted a gentle nip and a lick on her head.

Woah! Hopepaw gasped, viewing the big, strong attack from She Who Plays. The apprentice toppled down and rolled to the side, splaying her legs out in an odd manner and sticking out her tongue--mimicking death. After moments, she bounced back to her feet and bounded towards She Who Plays. Blinking expectantly, she pounced on a nearby leaf. Similar to how She Who Plays had a moment ago. Then, she turned back to the older cat. Was that enough for her to realize that Hopepaw wanted another demonstration? How did she manage it? It was hard to really see when another cat was coming at you.

Pointing her nose to the leaf, Hopepaw backed off a few steps to give She Who Plays enough space to attack the leaf below. Her white tail flicked from side to side with glee, catching small twigs and leaves in her long fur. Not that she minded at the moment. All eyes were on She Who Plays.

Sageroot purred with satisfaction at the young cat’s eagerness, especially as Hopepaw immediately went to mimic Sageroot’s move. Her small body didn’t have the power behind it to use the move effectively yet, but that would come with time.

Realizing that Hopepaw wanted to see the move again, Sageroot approached the leaf and reared up. Her paws came down heavily on the leaf with a thud.

Wide blue eyes watched She Who Plays slam her paws on the leaf. Was it because She Who Plays was older that she could execute the move better? Hopepaw tilted her head. Sure, Hopepaw wasn't the strongest. At least not yet! She wanted to be just as good as She Who Plays was! The apprentice bounded after the leaf, too, trying again to copy She Who Plays's move. It didn't hit nearly as hard, though. When the older cat did the attack, the ground shook. But when Hopepaw tried, she felt nothing.

Maybe she just had to get bigger. For now, maybe there were other cool moves Hopepaw could learn. She turned back to She Who Plays, tail high in the air, almost completely curled over her back with her enthusiasm.
