Pigeonpounce had trouble falling asleep that night. For no real reason, either! She worked plenty hard that day, and she was plenty tired when she settled into her nest for the night, and plenty comfortable finally having her siblings nearby (and still having Scarlet close), but she just couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned and cracked her eyes open and tossed more. When she did eventually sleep, it was a surprise--one moment, she'd been rolling around fitfully, listening to a half-awake grumble from Dove, and the next she was--

Pigeonpounce opened her eyes again. She was still lying curled up on the ground. She expected to see the grogginess-blurred warrior's den around her--and she almost attributed the swirling fog to that--but then she made out the shape of trees. A jolt went through her instantly and Pigeonpounce scrambled quickly to her paws. It only took a few sharp blinks to make out the landscape around her: tall trees, dark and dead; more darkness kneeling between their trunks; twitching undergrowth stirred by moving, invisible shapes; thick fog, hardly disturbed by her movements, wreathing uncomfortably between roots and around her legs. Pigeonpounce's thoughts flickered back to the Moonstone, to Mottlestar and all her words, and her heart clenched.

Still... something warm flickered to life in her chest. Pigeonpounce's ears slowly rose from where they were flattened against her head. She started to pad forward, looking around as she walked underneath the trees. "Starlin'flare?" She called out. Did he know she'd had her Moonstone? Did he get to watch her ceremony? Pigeonpounce found herself feeling oddly expectant. She wanted to see that pride in her father's eyes again... No matter where he spoke to her from. "Starlin'flare? Ya there?"
