Wolfstar sat on the tallbranch, the evening was pleasant, and with patrols having just returned to camp, there was a ceremony to perform. Wolfstar had spoken with Stoneheart, and the quiet, aloof warrior felt her apprentice was ready.
"All cats old enough to climb a tree, gather beneath the tallbranch!" Her call rang out over camp, and the leader waited patiently as their clanmates began to gather below.
MALLOWPAW ! Mallowpaw took his seat at the edge of the growing crowd, eyes raised to the Tallbranch, gazing up at Wolfstar. News, but what? Was it an apprentice ceremony? A warrior ceremony? ...Warrior ceremony? The apprentices' den felt lonely to him lately - all of his friends had left it and he was with strangers now. Maybe a new friend would be coming in, though? Or maybe Wolfstar would tell them news about more tensions with the other Clans...
He sighed softly and bent his head down, rasping his tongue over his chest idly. Whatever it was, he only hoped it was good. SkyClan could use a little more good news these days.
It wasn't long before her gaze found that of the apprentice she sought, as well as his mentor sitting nearby in the crowd. "Mallowpaw, step forward please." Hopefully his name being called wouldn't catch him too off-guard, still. Wolfstar waited for him to step forward before she continued.
"I call upon you Skyclan, and our warrior ancestors to look upon this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of the warrior code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn." Wolfstar began, "Mallowpaw, do you promise to defend and provide for the clan, and to uphold the code, even at the cost of your life?"
MALLOWPAW ! Mallowpaw snapped his head up from his licking - or tried to. His tongue stuck to the fur on his chest and he stared ahead at Wolfstar, abashed. She was calling his name? What did he do? He shot a glance to Stoneheart worriedly, holding the gaze of his large, fluffy mentor.
With a jerk of his head, he finally removed his tongue from his chest and scrambled to his paws, stepping forward as his leader instructed. Wait - he was being called forward? My warrior ceremony! He quickly straightened his posture, listening keenly as she recited the words every cat was to hear when they would receive their name.
He was to make a promise to his Clan, to his leader, pledge his life to the good of SkyClan's future. So much had happened to these cats, he had witnessed his friends go through so much in the few moons he walked the earth. There were cats here who cared little for him, that would let him die without a second thought, but Mallowpaw would quickly lay his life down for them. Yewshade was one of them, even though his decisions as of late were questionable. Honeydew was another - who's loyalty he never doubted. Stoneheart, of course, as well.
...Mallowpaw didn't have many friends in SkyClan, but it didn't change how much he loved it. Fluffing his fur out, he nodded confidently. "Yes, Wolfstar." No matter who was by his side here, he would defend SkyClan. They were honorable - or could be honorable - and he would do all he could to prove that.
Mallowpaw's answer was sure, and that was a relief amid everything that had happened lately. With the answer given, the leader continued. "Then I grant you your warrior name. Mallowpaw, from now on you shall be known as Mallowcloud. We honor your kindness and determination." With the ceremony complete, Wolfstar leapt down from the tallbranch, approaching the newly named warrior with a smile. "Congratulations, Mallowcloud, celebrate with your friends for now. You'll sit vigil tonight in camp. May it be an uneventful one."
---
Stoneheart watched with pride as her apprentice stepped forward, giving him a small nod as he answered. When the ceremony was complete her voice rose with those of their clanmates in calling his new name. "Mallowcloud! Mallowcloud!"
With the ceremony over, the fluffy warrior padded forward, lightly flicking the warrior's shoulder, "You've trained hard and have earned this. Congratulations, Mallowcloud!"
Stormwatcher watched the ceremony and gave a nod to his new fellow warrior. Well that was good that they were building their clan up. He yawned and stretched thinking that at some point he should go and get to know mallow more
"congrats mallowcloud

MALLOWCLOUD ! Mallowcloud beamed brightly when Wolfstar bestowed his warrior name upon him. No more ceremonies, no more name-changes. He was Mallowcloud now and forever. A loud purr roused itself from him and he turned his body to face his Clanmates, who called his name. He had heard Stoneheart first, and so she was the first cat he approached. "I couldn't have done it without you." He said softly.
He loved his mentor terribly; she was good to him and he was almost sad she wouldn't be guiding him every day anymore. But it didn't mean they couldn't be friends! "Thank you." He chirped, turning his head to look through the crowd. A nod of thanks to Stormwatcher, but he found himself missing Honeydew and Yewshade...
"Mallowcloud! Mallowcloud!" Honeydew's voice rose up amongst the others as she cheered for her sweet friend. She raised up on her hind legs and put her paws in the air as she yowled his name as loudly as she could. As the crowd began to die down, cats began to wind their ways between and around each other. The young deputy impatiently waited for some of them to finish congratulating Mallowcloud, until finally she found the opening to approach.
"Congratulations, Mallowcloud," she purred as she approached him from behind. "You've worked really hard to earn your warrior name. I've already got a nest set up for you in the warrior's den with us for once your vigil is over. It's getting a bit crowded in there, but I made sure your nest is close to mine." The young she-cat blinked, her expression momentarily confused, as if she didn't quite understand the words that had just come from her own mouth. "I mean - if that's okay with you, of course," she stammered, taking a single step backwards.
