It's Rat Season! [C]

Asmodeus scented the border, but... to the eternal flames with these cat colonies. They were massive and everywhere and avoiding trespassing was quickly becoming a big ask. At this point he'd rather ask forgiveness than permission. He hunkered down into a hunting crouch and leaped for a rat, claws outstretched.

Catching the critter unaware, it was swiftly dispatched and he sucked it down with expert swiftness. Meals were easily stolen when you were a rogue, so eating fast was a skillset that every lone cat needed. With his stomach satisfied, Asmodeus debated whether or not to push his luck by hunting some more... or maybe leaving. At least, until the wind changed and he scented at least one member of the swamp cat colony. Hiding his annoyance, he turned his attention to where the wind had been blowing in from. "Was that your rat? Oops." Though his tone was far from apologetic. He'd had enough of this, quite frankly. If they wanted to make a big deal out of it, yay.

Asmodeus watched the... He took a moment to scent the air... yes, it was as he thought... adolescent tom approach him. He listened to his words and noted immediately that his body language wasn't really matching up with how most colony cats would. The inexperience of the adolescent showed, and while Asmodeus himself wasn't that much older, he was confident that he'd experienced far more of the world, and it's cruelty, than this one here.

"I should," Asmodeus feigned agreement, though his eyes narrowed and he lined his shoulders up with the kid's. "I would, even, except that everywhere us lone cats go, there is always someone's territory we are standing on. How are we supposed to survive ourselves with so many of you around? All prey has to do is escape across an imaginary line and suddenly we are forbidden from eating. Hardly fair."

He could hear and smell other cats around... he had to make this quick if he was to make a point. Asmodeus had a very different fighting style when he intended to end something quickly from when he intended to have long, drawn-out brawls. His defensive stance became an offensive one. Instead of spreading his paws evenly apart in a perfect rectangle, he arranged his feet as if he were stalking forward. He leaned on his toes and held his tail out behind him for balance. He attack was going to be swift, then he was going to be out of here quickly.

"But I suppose we all have to learn one day that life simply isn't fair..." He growled his last words, his one bright yellow eye seemed to roar to life like a flame while his deep amber eye almost appeared to grow darker. A pool of black that was his pupil covered the colored iris, taking in as much light and as much information as possible. It was a tell-tale sign of excitement, adrenaline... a fight.

Asmodeus closed the gap between himself and the kid with a predatory swiftness. He flipped onto his back last minute, slid in the mud under the large teen... and his claws immediately and mercilessly went for all of the soft parts.

The young tom flailed at him more or less, but given his position on the ground it was still effective enough. The scent of blood and the yowling would no doubt bring others. Asmodeus knew it was time to boogey on out. He placed a well-aimed claw strike to the underside of the apprentices chin with enough force to throw the little bugger off of him. Aaaaand he was out. Asmodeus flipped to his feet and bolted out of Shadowclan territory. He'd be back eventually, but this was enough for now.
