| The day had been a rather pleasant one for traveling to the Moonstone. Despite Littlesplash's heavy heart, one that still weighed from the sudden passing of Sandyshell, he found himself trying to be excited about this next step in Ravenpaw's path to warriorhood. One pawstep closer to fighting alongside the warriors... He hated how bitter the thought sounded echoing in his head. The fact of the matter was that he was scared by the prospect of battle, what it meant both for him and for the clan.
Littlesplash tried to push away his reservations with a weak smile as they reached the entrance, "Stay close... it's really dark." Pressing forward, he let the damp chill of the cavern swallow him up, devouring all his cascading thoughts as they trailed down into the stone depths. Eventually, the dazzling light of the Moonstone began to eat away at the shadows, captivating his attention. Glancing to Ravenpaw to see his reaction, Littlesplash meowed again softly, "Rest against the stone and Starclan will meet you in your sleep. I'll wait here for you." |

| Ravenpaw followed behind Littlesplash into the darkness of the cavern. Fur standing on end a little at the darkness that surrounded him, panic trying to grip his heart but the black tom willed it down. If medicine cats could do this, then so could he. He pushed forward, heart leaping slightly at the light, thankful to see again.
The moonstone was beautiful, and all Ravenpaw could think in that moment was that he wanted to take the stone home with him. To have a piece of it in his nest with him because it was so beautiful. Shame that the world was cruel and the stone was too big for him to take back. Someone must have known he like pretty rocks.
Littlesplash's words broke him out of his thoughts, yellow eyes blinking over to the medicine cat. "Alright." with that the tom settled down at the stone and pressed his nose to it.
Ravenpaw didn't know what he was expecting. A bunch of bright stars? A field of stars? He didn't know. He had heard the stories of what Starclan looked like but this certainly wasn't it. Here he sat, in front of the river. Sun shining above, air warm and crisp. Yellow eyes flicked around the clearing looking for someone.. or something.. what was he looking for again? Right he was hunting wasn't he?
Eyes returned to the water, looking for the familiar shape of fish close to the surface, but nothing but black shadows swam below the surface. Okay patience. They would come to the surface soon. They always did. Ravenpaw looked back. His shadow wasn't over the water right? No it wasn't. Back to the water.
The black tom kept his breathing steady but as time passed it felt like at this rate he wasn't ever going to catch anything. Nothing came near the surface, just lingered below. Then there was a flash of silver, all he needed for him to flash his paw into the water only to let out a sharp gasp as the water splashed back at him. The water was a stark contrast to the warm leaf green sun which caused Ravenpaw to recoil.
Eyes flew open as the chill ran down his spine. A dream? Right just a dream. The black tom sat up, coming face to face with the dimming moonstone.. Right he was supposed to see Starclan.. but he didn't. He didn't quite remember what his dream was, but he knew for a fact it wasn't them. They wouldn't have cold water. Right? |
