Stormwatcher stirred from his deep slumber. There was very few things that could cause him to awaken like this... Wolfblossom was one of the reasons but the other was his tummy which was currently rumbling. He was in need of a snacky time! He stretched looking at the sad excuse of the fresh kill pile which now looked more akin to a fresh kill scrap
Sighing he ran a paw over his bushy long coat and shook the moss bits that clung from his nest out his pelt.
Going over to the center of camp he looked around for someone to go hunt with. There was not really much option, the ontly one there was Beechface.
He made sure to always approach her from her side she could still see on not really wanting to spook her or get on her bad side (quite literally).
He wasn't really sure what to think of her... she was putting them all in danger by just existing so a very small part of him resented her for that... but he also felt an overwhelming urdge TO defend her and ANY one of his clanmates. If riverclan wanted to be sticks in mud over something that happened a lifetime ago that was on them. Skyclan was the best clan put simply in the toms mind and deep down more than anything else he just hoped that if he ever found himself in a similar situation that beech was in that he would be supported by his clanmates and he knew that he would be.
"wanna go hunt?" he offered simply. The warrior was much better at being responsible now days and he had also become less akward as well compared to his younger days.

Stormwatcher's approached was spotted easily by the warrior, and she almost smiled at the tom. "Stormwatcher," She greeted, her usual gruff tone. Lazybones he might be, but he almost seemed like a respectable warrior these days... Probably Wolfblossom's doing. The deputy certainly had a way of annoying cats to get what she wanted, and she had to respect it. Even when that annoyance was turned her way. 'You should socialize more', 'you should take a rest'...
She had rested more than enough lately, especially with war looming. A hunting patrol sounded like a far more reasonable idea to her. "Sure." Beechfang stood and stretched... The cold had been creeping under even her heavy pelt lately, or what remained of it. Newleaf, rainy as it was, could not come quick enough.
Stormwatcher nodded "alright lets see what we can get". His true feelings for beech were beyond complicated. Wolf had indeed, helped shape him a lot to become an actual warrior. He tried now for the most part and actually did care about his clanmates. But this caring came at a cost, he knew what it was like to lose those he cared about, he could not help but to fear that this would only lead to him yet again being so alone like how his original parents died leaving a scared apprentice behind who at the time had no inention of ever becoming a warrior in open rebellion to not follow their pawsteps.
He did care now again, much to his own distain he cared very deeply about a lot of his clanmates, he even cared for beech though she could be a thorn in the pelt to get along with at times.
Still, he worried that her precense would cost him just like the first time he had allowed himself to be attatfched to anything. It was much easier to be the tom he was in his younger days. Eaier yes, but not fufilling.
"bet I can catch more than you" he challenged one eye rasied slightly looking at the more senior warrior. Was beech's very existence a threat to his way of life? Yes, but she was skyclan and while worried he also had convidence they could take whatever those fish breathed water cattos could throw at them.
"loser umm has to uhh... replace the nursery moss" he offered.
He was pretty sure birdstar had told him to go do that anyways... but beechface did not have to know that part
"first one to two catches how about?

"You? Challenging me to a hunt? I'm surprised." Beechfang blinked incredulously. Wolfblossom truly had done a number on the tom, it seemed. Maybe he was actually eager to hunt and do something for the clan, let alone a bit of friendly competition.
"Deal." She agreed. Replacing the nests in the nursery was never something enjoyable... But it would give her a chance to spend time with her grandkits on the off chance that Stormwatcher actually managed to catch prey faster than her. Which Beechfang doubted.
Turning, the warrior war quick to start scanning her surroundings, seeking out signs of life in the cold forest.
Stormwatcher also, could hardly belive the change that had occured thus far. He actually wanted to hunt, actually wanted his clan to do well. Prior to his drastic reconstruction he would have been asleep right now and likely in a different forest altogeter at the whisper of any war... but now he was ready for it and even welcoming it, how he would regret that soon.
He gave a nod as she agreed.
"Clan tradition says to honor your elders.. err.. something like that" he was still working on learning traditions as he had skipped that part entierly in his apprenticeship and hardly knew clan rules or edicate at all yet.
"So lets see what you got old timer" he winked in joking manor as he slipped out of the clan camp. He soon took for the trees hauling his big self up the branches. He looked at all the thick forest clumped together as he hoped from branch to branch.
Gonna catch me a squirelll its gonna be a bigggg oneee he hummed to himself
Sure enough he soon got his chance as a squirrel was nearby he just had to hop over to its branch and it would be cornered!
rolling dice -5 sp
He did just that and with a leap or two later he was in the clear and had the squirrel right were he needed it. The squirrel desperatly tried to dart around him its only hope now but his jaws were set and waiting as they closed shut and quickly ended it once and for all as blood dripped down his fangs.
He purred contently.
He glanced to his hunting partner as if to say...
Score: 1 - nothing... better catch up

"Speak up, Stormwatcher. These old ears didn't quite catch that." She rumbled, yellow-green gaze settling on the warrior, narrowing ever so slightly, daring him to do so.
With a soft snort, the warrior turned in search of her own potential prey, finding the dark, iridescent feathers of a starling rooting among the ground. The sight of the feathers reminded her of her niece... Perhaps she'd take a few of them for her nest in honor of Dawnfeather. Silently, Beechfang stalked forward. One leap and a well-aimed paw and the silvery she-cat was turning back toward Stormwatcher, just in time to see him miss a catch.
"What's the matter, can't keep up with the old bag?" She called, a hint of amusement in her voice.
