Sunhigh approached, and Cloudypetal was waiting near the entrance as she promised. The camp was a hive of activity as cats went about their duties. Her breath was visible in the crisp air, and she was distracted as she watched cats pad by her - their fur puffed against the cold. Brr. She was grateful for the warm nest that awaited her after their training session today.
Her eyes sparkled as she spotted Cricketpaw approach her. "Cricketpaw!" she called, greeting him with a warm purr. She rose to her paws and touched his forehead tenderly with her nose. "Today marks something special! The first day in your journey. First thing, we will practice some sparring. It's extremely important for hunting, too, and I bet you'll find it useful. Then I would love to introduce you to the Outlook Rock." She mewed, padding outside of camp by his side. East of the camp, towards the edge of WindClan's moor, was a large stone. Outlook Rock. It juts out from the moorland - and has a smooth, flat surface at the top. It was beautiful. She didn't grow up here and certainly didn't train here. Genuinely - she was equally as excited as an apprentice to see all of these new things in this new light! In was obvious in her eyes as she continued, "It's gorgeous at this time of day. It's more of a scenic spot, but it'll help you gain perspective and understand our territory better. Are you ready, Cricketpaw?"
It wasn't long before she had led him to a flatter section of the moorland, the perfect spot for a sparring session - in her mind, at least!

Cricketpaw
this is just a journey, drop your worries; you are gonna turn out fine;
A breeze buffeted Cricketpaw's pelt and he shivered in the chill for a moment as he met Cloudypetal at the entrance to camp. She offered him a warm greeting and he purred in response, grinning. "Mornin', Cloudypetal! Or, uh...afternoon?" he mewed, flicking his tail in amusement. He was excited for today. Excited and nervous, that tingly feeling fluttering in his chest and paws. Sparring sounded very daunting...but he was up for the challenge.
He followed his mentor out onto the moorland, admiring the flatness and neatness of it all. "It's a real nice day today, yeah! Bein' out of camp is so nice." When they reached their destination, he turned to her and nodded. "I'm ready!"

Cloudypetal T2 Warrior | WindClan | she/her
Cloudypetal smiled warmly at her apprentice's enthusiasm. She knew this was a lot for him - she was just as overwhelmed as an apprentice, too.
"Great!" She purred, encouragement dancing in her mismatched gaze. "Remember, sparring is not just about strength. I'd say that agility and strategy are just as important, if not more. Watch your opponent's movements, anticipate their next move - and most importantly, stay light on your paws!"
With a flick of her tail, she took a few steps back. She dropped into a defensive crouch, shifting her weight back and forth. She discovered, as an apprentice, that it helped her judge distances so much better. Otherwise, she was useless and easily misjudged how far away everything was. She missed many pounces in her kit hood.
"Try to land a blow on me!" She instructed, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Don't forget: sheathed claws."

"Light on your paws," he echoed, nodding. Similarly, he backed up a little and readied himself, mentally double-checking to make sure his claws were sheathed. He never wanted to hurt Cloudypetal, not when he could control it. Her swaying back and forth was a little disorienting, but he took a deep breath to calm his nerves. It was just a spar, just a learning experience, everything would be fine.
With his eyes narrowed, he sprang off of his back leg in an attempt to leap onto Cloudypetal's back and bowl her over. She weighed more than him, but hopefully the force of his momentum was enough. His tail lashed instinctively as he leapt in an attempt to control his direction, but he only managed to collide into his mentor's side. Maybe that move needed a bit more work...
Cricketpaw used Jumping Strike on Cloudypetal, using 7 stamina and dealing 9 8 damage. Moor Runner is active! -1 to all damage.
