Subject: Mothpaw's Moonstone Journey Sat 10 Feb 2024 - 8:57
Tensions were thick in the foggy air, increasing with each passing day. As the clans settled back into their homes, finding comfort and security in the familiar once more, there was a promise of uncertainty in the future. A slight rise in temperature had melted some of the snow, causing moisture to lay thick in the atmosphere. Littlepaw's sight was clouded further and he dreaded to think about the path that lay before him and the other apprentice. The one solace was the fact their paws would be headed on the direction away from Skyclan.
Another one of the late Egretswoop's apprentices was ready to take the final step toward warriorhood. As he remembered the snow-furred warrior, Littlepaw's throat tigthened. Constant reminders made his heart hurt and the crimson scene played through his mind. It took a few slow inhilations to still his beating heart. Having already given Mothpaw herbs, he found her once again and lead the way out of camp and onto the territory.
The pair of Riverclan cats traveled slowly, having left as soon as the sun began to rise due to the conditions. He had wanted to wait but the fact remained Riverclan needed more warriors. Guide my steps, he prayed silently to the ancestors. Although they missed a few turns and the little grey and white tom stumbled into a rabbit warren at the edge of Windclan's territory, after shaking off the dust, they reached Mothermouth. The medicine cat pressed forward silently, welcoming the darkness this time as he instructed Mothpaw to stay close... more for his comfort than anything.
Moonstone's light was just as dazzling as before and he greeted the sight with an excited wave of his tail, whispering softly, "Lay down and press your nose to the stone. Starclan will greet you in your dreams."

The herbs were bitter, grimacing as she swallowed. Though, they could only do good - and would hopefully would work towards the lingering remnants of the sickness that had plagued the clans sat in her chest, causing the she-cat to turn her head to clear her throat as she followed the other apprentice. When Littlepaw had tripped over the rabbit warren Mothpaw had felt a moments escape from the grief, letting out a laugh. It broke the tension, Her clanmate was a pleasant cat and Mothpaw felt guilty for not being the greatest companion on their journey.
If she let her mind wander for even a moment, the awful scene replayed. The wet crunch, the dull thud. And she could do nothing. She did nothing. All she did was stand there amongst the chaos, paralysed by fear and grief, unable to let more than a wail escape. Each day felt like nothing more than the continuation of a bad dream, her slowing mind and body a precursor to her waking up. It had to be. Except it wasn’t - and she knew she wouldn’t, because she was already awake. It just didn’t feel real. She didn’t feel real.
Mothpaw kept close to the medicine cat, taking a moment to admire Mothermouth as she padded through slowly, overwhelmed with guilt as excitement began to build in her stomach. It is dark, Mothpaw thought as she followed behind the other apprentice slowly, soon in awe as light filtered in. She let out a soft gasp, her eyes slowly scanning around; it was only Littlepaw’s soft words that reminded her why she was there.
StarClan.
Who would be on the other side? Would anyone be on the other side? The tortoiseshell stood still for a moment, her eyes trained on the stone. Mothpaw could not bring herself to interact with the stone that her ancestors had generations before her - the overwhelming sense of loss and rising burdens almost engulfing her.
Almost. Her breathing steadied after a moment, bowing to the stone before laying before it. I hope it doesn’t hurt. With one last thought, she lowered her head and pressed her nose to the cold stone.
When Mothpaw opened her eyes, she would be greeted by a familiar landscape--an almost-identical copy of RiverClan territory, lush with green grasses and soft earth and willow copses and the rushing sound of water. The main difference was a cat who sat there, waiting for the apprentice to awaken with a smile on her face. Her fur was a soft cream color, studded with the bright lights of stars, and her paws were speckled gray. She looked young, but her green eyes held a depth of wisdom that regarded Mothpaw carefully when they met her gaze. "Greetings, little one," the StarClan she-cat purred. "My name is Tansyfoot. I lived in RiverClan a long time ago. It's very nice to meet you." She tilted her head, eyes softening with a knowledge of the unrest happening below. Life for cats had always been difficult, but... this particular apprentice had certainly had a hard time. "I know things have been hard for you recently. But if there is any advice you need, or any comfort, I am here to do my best to provide. I have a bit of knowledge that might be able to help."
