Since returning to the forest, Sunfire had spent the majority of his time out and about. The territory was as familiar to him, as familiar as the back of his paw, but still, it was nice to note the changes that had happened in their absence - a few freshly felled trees, a boulder that had slipped free and tumbled down to the bottom of a hill... but most importantly, an abandoned badger den that didn't seem quite so abandoned anymore. Sunfire had done his reconnaissance, waiting in the lower branches of a nearby tree well into the early morning hours, until the den's occupants had finally showed themselves.
It seemed that with no clan cats in the forest to protest it, all manner of rogues and loners had cropped up. All across the territory, Sunfire had found cat- scent that was decidedly not SkyClan... and though he deliberately marked the places where those scents were the freshest, there seemed to be no end to the amount of filthy trespassers on their territory, be they feline or not feline. Today would bring SkyClan one step closer in reclaiming their territory for good. They'd start with the foe he knew... the one that had claimed this badger den.
After telling Stoneheart where to meet him with the apprentices, Sunfire had set out to beat them here, just in case any... preparations were necessary, and it was just outside the small clearing where he was, now, stretched out on his belly with his nose pointed in the direction his clanmates would be coming from.

Honeypaw
Honeypaw was, to her own surprise, the first one to show up to Sunfire's training session. This was Sunfire's first training session with all of the apprentices since they'd reached the forest. Honeypaw welcomed it; it was familiar to her, and brought with it memories of the lake. She cleared her voice as she approached to announce her arrival through the fronds.
"Hello, Sunfire," she greeted with a dip of her head, her tail held high. She glanced behind her as she heard the faint pawsteps of another approaching cat. "It's good to be out training again. I'm excited to see what you have in store for us today!" She padded over to her uncle, the dappled sunlight catching her honey-colored coat, and settled herself not too far from his side, ears craning in the direction of her approaching denmates.

"I hope that we can meet again one day, you and I," she mewed, "under peaceful skies."
MALLOWPAW ! Mallowpaw had caught wind of the training session from some of the other apprentices' chatter and had taken it upon himself to ask Sunfire if he could join in. Once he'd gotten his word, he'd gone to Stoneheart and now they were here together! This was his first ever training session of this caliber, usually choosing to stick with just himself and Stoneheart, but today was different. He stuck close to the large she-cat, quivering with excitement at whatever they would be learning today. He figured... Battle moves, considering this was probably too big a patrol to hunt... Birdstar said we were preparing for a war. He reminded himself.
He knew nothing about that war. Mallowpaw told himself to ask Stoneheart about that later. For now, he sat neatly away from Sunfire and Honeypaw, dipping his head respectfully to the pale orange warrior. "Good morning, Sunfire." And with a purr, "Honeypaw."

When Mallowpaw had asked her about joining in with Sunfire's battle training, Stoneheart had been happy to agree. Her apprentice was showing promise as a future warrior, and this latest step of taking initiative was another sign of it that Stoneheart would not discourage.
Their territory had been unfortunately abandoned for long enough, and with war on the horizon every chance they had to hone their skills and sharpen their claws was one Stoneheart would take. Their foes - predator and cat alike - were not averse to using force, and so force Skyclan would meet them with. The more paws on training for the apprentices, the better.
Sunfire wasn't a tom the introverted she-cat knew particularly well, but she gave him a polite nod of greeting as she and Mallowpaw found the golden tom with her sister's apprentice.

[Unfortunately this topic will have to be discontinued because what I had planned will not work with only two apprentices and we are now approaching soup territory that I just don't want to deal with. Better luck next time.]
