One of the first things Shatteredsky did with his new apprentice was to teach her how to fight. From the very beginning, he had made it clear that she would have to be prepared to fight opponents as strong as the wolves, or even stronger. "Defending your Clan is one of the most important part of a Warrior's duty. Even if you have to lay your life down, you should be prepared to do it in a heartbeat." This he had repeated to Myrtlepaw each time they traded blows. He had to drill it into her, until it was an unquestionable part of her behavior. Just as natural as defending Honeypaw and Harepaw was to him, Myrtlepaw would have to learn to care for her family. And so, when the Clans had paused once more in their journey, he had swept his apprentice away to practice her battle moves once again. "Attack me," He instructed, as he always did when beginning any one of their lessons.

Myrtlepaw was lost in thought when Shatteredsky instructed her to attack him, she was thinking of all the times she play fought with her siblings under Paledove's watchful gaze. She wondered if Paledove was watching her from Starclan now as she prepared to battle with her Mentor. Myrtlepaw shook the thought from her mind and looked at Shatteredsky, wishing she could go back to her nest.
She decided it was best to get on with her training and took a swip at Shatteredsky.
Myrtlepaw uses Front Paw Blow for 4 damage/-5 Stamina

Shatteredsky wasn't one to wish pain on himself, but now as his apprentice batted at him, he wished it hurt even a little. He didn't know what to do with Myrtlepaw, when she seemed to fail at nearly every task he gave her. He didn't want to approach any other warriors, not when some had already seemed surprised at how early he had been given an apprentice, but it would bring even more shame to him if his apprentice somehow failed. The tabby bit back an irritated growl, and returned his apprentice's blow without hesitation. His paws, though seathed, smacked her muzzle with enough force that it'd surely hurt. "Try again, and this time hit harder," He mewed, then froze when a sudden idea came to him. "Imagine I was the one that killed Paledove. Visuallise your mother, dead and blinded, with me standing over her dead body. What would you do?" He prayed it would work. Myrtlepaw wouldn't start crying, would she?

Tears started to form in Myrtlepaw's eye. The smack to her muzzle hurt but it was nowhere near the pain Shatteredsky's words made her feel. She pinned her ears back at the thought of him murdering her mother in cold blood, 'Why would he do that to her?' Myrtlepaw thought, forgetting that her mother passed due to the harsh conditions not to Shatteredsky. Blinded by the picture her mentor had painted, Myrtlepaw lashed out. Leaping towards Shatteredsky's tail then clamped down and pulled as hard as she could to knock him off balance.
Myrtlepaw used Tail Yank [Stun] for -7 HP \ -15 SP
Taking a few steps back, a tear fell from her eye as she yowled at Shatteredsky, "Why would you do that to her? You left me and my siblings without our mother! I hate you!" Her chest felt heavy, and her breathing was labored, 'Wait Shatteredsky didn't kill Paledove, it was the weather that took my mother from us not the cat standing before me'. Myrtlepaw's ears were still pinned back, she would not apologize for her reaction. She would finish her training, that's what's important right now.

Shatteredsky immediately wished he hadn't given such a mouse-brained idea to his even sillier apprentice, but what's said has been said, and there was nothing stopping Myrtlepaw from screaming at him. What a headache. At least her blows packed a little more punch now, right? "Good. Now try dodging this," The warrior recovered easily from the apprentice's attempt at keeping him in his place, and quickly batted her over the muzzle once more.

After another smack to the muzzle, Myrtlepaw was fuming. She was angry that her mentor was able to recover from being stunned like nothing had happened. She couldn't take it no more and lashed out smacking Shatteredsky right on his muzzle as hard as she could. Myrtlepaw took a few steps back, with her head lowered, she glared at the tom cat. She knew there was no way to beat her mentor, and that made her angrier than anything else. 'If I were bigger, he wouldn't be able to bully me so much.' She thought to herself as she twitched her tail in irritation and growled.
Myrtlepaw used Front Paw Strike -6 HP \ -7 SP and Desperate Blows -4 HP \ -7 Sp for a total of -10 HP \ -14 SP

Shatteredsky sighed at the pitiful attack, and finally just batted his apprentice's head, and pressed her face into the dirt. He waited for a few heartbeats, then let her go. "Seems like we'll have to train your strength more," He mewed, letting his tone tell Myrtlepaw just how disappointed he was in her. "That's it for today, go back to camp and try practicing yourself. We'll spar again tommorrow," he dismissed her with a flick of a tail, letting her know that she was free to run away, crawl, however she would like to leave his sights.

'He's as annoying as a tick on an elder's backside.' Myrtlepaw growled to herself, as she lifted her face out of the dirt. She shook the dirt off her body and padded towards her nest. It had been a long and tiring day, both physically and mentally. Myrtlepaw slid into her nest and quickly drifted off to sleep. She dreaded the next time she would have to spar with Shatteredsky.
