To say that she was healthy... was a lie. Snailpaw remained just as sick as she was when they'd first made the trip over Highstones. The only "better" she'd gotten was her ability to hide it. She didn't try to claim the sickness had left her completely, no, she merely did her best to hide the more concerning symptoms. ShadowClan needed more working paws and jaws, and by the stars she was going to be some of them. Maybe since she didn't know either Tawnyshadow nor Quillsplash very well it would be easier to keep up the charade. As draining as it was, 'I have to do this.' After a bit of trundling through the snow it seemed they'd reached a good splitting-off point. She mewed a quiet, but cheerful, "Good luck!", while the two warriors went separate ways, allowing herself a stifled cough once she thought they were far enough away before setting off.

Snailpaw felt a bit of delight in all the snow despite her short fur; for once she blended in quite nicely! Hunting might come easier here than she thought. She found a damp, algae-covered crack in the rock face, probably somewhere water trickled down in warmer moons. There was something round and somewhat greenish brown settled inside. It smelled a bit like a frog, but it could also be an oddly-shaped rock. The fact that it wasn't moving didn't tell her much; frogs and toads never seemed inclined to move in the cold. 'Here goes nothing!' She reached in with outstretched claws, scooping it towards her and quickly chomping.

"ACK!" It was a rock. Hopefully she wouldn't lose a tooth from this. Disappointed and embarrassed, the curl-tailed she-cat followed her own trail back to an equally empty-pawed Quillsplash. It felt strangely comforting to know someone else had trouble today.

Badgermask's expression was as cold as the snow beneath them. It wasn't hard to guess what had caused the she-cat's mood to sour, not that it was ever truly pleasant when she wasn't near her family... To say that her father's death had effected her would be an understatement. It was different than the slump she had fallen into when her littermates had died - she was obviously aware of things and would give a stern glare at any Clanmate who tried to wish her condolences on the loss. ...But as ever, she would do her duty. They needed prey to be hunted, then she would hunt.

Her eyes scanned the snowy field, not really caring what she found until she saw a small splash of color... For as much as brown could be color. Dropping into a crouch, she stalked forward on quiet paws before she made her leap. Her paw landed - followed by a surprise cracking noise. A surprised hiss escaped her, followed by a jab of pain as she lifted up her paw to find that what she had spotted had been nothing but a half-buried stick. Her ears fell flat as she swiped at the stick, sending it and speckles of snow flying before she turned and stalked off in the search for another prey.

It felt a bit… awkward to simply stand there and not talk. Although Snailpaw had kind of noticed the mottled tom wasn’t the most agreeable cat around, so maybe this was better than being snubbed? He seemed a good deal younger than her, but given he’d come from outside ShadowClan she really couldn’t say. She bent her head and rubbed the front of her muzzle against the warm inside of her foreleg, hoping to stave off the dull pain from her earlier mistake. Once her nose was free she caught the smell of something nearby, as well as Quillsplash’s motion towards its general direction. For a moment though she didn’t put the two together and so she ended up giving him a very bewildered look. Holding her mouth firmly shut to avoid accidentally making a noise, the she-cat gave him a nod and quietly began to pad towards the source of the smell.

She had an idea, something she’d seen once when peering across the Thunderpath into WindClan territory, cats working together to catch wily prey. They’d been chasing a rabbit, sure. But it could work on mice too, right? Once she determined where the creature was, the white and tabby she-cat circled so it was between herself and Quillsplash. ‘I got this..!’ Lining herself up, Snailpaw’s pupils went wide as she focused in on every movement of her prey. There was no mistaking this mouse for an inanimate object this time. ‘If I miss, it’ll run straight into him. Hopefully.’

Once the mouse let its guard down and absorbed itself in foraging, she pounced. And so did an owl. "AH!" A shadow fell over her and Snailpaw tried to dodge to avoid its curved talons, her heart jolting into a rapid pace, especially as it briefly scooped her up and tried to fly off with her. Panic froze her. Her brain spun faster than ever, trying to find some way out of this. But planning gave way to desperate instinct and her claws swiped at its legs and belly, forcing the bird to drop her with a thump. She shouldn't have covered up being sick. Everything hurt. "H-help!"
