Yewkit's mismatched gaze flickered with a mix of defiance, reluctance and resentment as he listened to Mallowkit's apology - more-so an attempt at an explanation. The fear in Mallowkit's eyes tugged at a pang of guilt deep within him, but his pride held him captive. Paledove had explained to him that everything before a 'but' was something they didn't mean. He was convinced that Mallowkit didn't mean his apology. He's lying.

Honeypaw's words cut through the tension - reminding him of the clan's expectations and code. He was held by it. He had to follow it. Her meditation was nice and he appreciated her gentle touches - but she had to know that Mallowkit wasn't being entirely truthful. A sense of weary acceptance began to seep in. I just want to get it over with. Glancing at his paws, he conceded. "Alright, fine." His words were laced with a touch of bitterness. His gaze met Mallowkit's before looking away, and he added, "Watch your words next time, Mallowkit." The tension between them lingered but had lost some of its edge.

Yewkit was going to have to be the bigger kit and stop pushing the issue. He just wanted to move on - he apologized. It was over with. He wanted to run to Paledove and tell his siblings and mom everything. He shifted his focus, opting not to think about it anymore. It's over.

"You brought a squirrel?" He mewed, looking up at Honeypaw. The rage that lingered in his gaze only moments ago were no longer able to be found.

MALLOWKIT !
That was his apology? That sounded like a threat more than anything! Mallowkit pressed himself deeper into the fluffy golden expanse of fur that Honeypaw had pulled him into earlier and squeezed his eyes shut. Somehow this had just made him feel worse. He'd never meant to offend Yewkit - he never meant to offend any cat. Yewkit was the bravest kit in the entire nursery as far as Mallowkit was concerned, never backing down from a challenge and meeting every threat with a brave face. He even incited bravery in his friends. Mallowkit would have passed out from fear if Yewkit hadn't been with him back at the old camp.

With his ears drooping, he rest his forepaws in front of himself and rested his chin atop them. He'd been hungry just before Honeypaw left to hunt but suffice to say that his appetite was lost. Pulling his tail closer to himself, he closed his eyes tightly and mumbled. "Thank you, Honeypaw. I'll... I'll eat later." Right now, he didn't want to be awake anymore. Sleeping was much better than being awake and feeling this way.
