Preface

"Comrades," Gouge began, his deep voice resonating like thunder across the lake, "my dear friends." His amber eyes scanned the faces of those assembled, the fading dusk light casting shadows on his battle-scarred features. The air was thick with anticipation as the group gathered, awaiting the announcement that would mark a new chapter for them.

"We've traveled through moonlit nights and faced many storms together. Each scar we bear tells a tale of our strength, our resilience, and the bonds that tie us together. Today, I stand before you not just as a leader but as a brother to each and every one of you." He paused, allowing the gravity of his words to settle among the group.

"We are no longer just a band of rogues, we are a Brotherhood," Gouge declared, his eyes gleaming. "In the face of adversity, we stand united. Our claws may be sharp, our hearts fierce, but it is the unbreakable bonds that forge us into something more. It is time for our little group of misfits to have a name." He extended a paw, gesturing to the cats gathered around him - his cats, like family. "From this day forth, let the world know us as The Brotherhood. A force to be reckoned with, a family of rogues, standing tall and unyielding. Together, we are stronger than any storm. 'The Brotherhood' signifies not only our unity but the unspoken oath we've taken to protect each other, to face the challenges that lie ahead."

About The Brotherhood

Greetings, fellow rogues and free spirits of the Southern Lake!
Are you tired of traveling alone, struggling to find prey, shelter, and purpose? Look no further! The Brotherhood, led by the formidable Gouge, extends its claws and welcomes you into our midst.

The Brotherhood is more than just a group of rogues; it's a family. We stand united against the challenges that the wilderness throws our way and face the unknown as a resilient and tight-knit community. The group is led by Gouge, a young, battle-scarred and wise tom, who has seen and endured more than most cats would like to imagine in his moons. Born in blood and forced to fend for himself as a young kit, Gouge has honed his skills in survival that exceeds most cats of his age. After the ruthless murder of his parents and mentor, Gouge has set out to recruit young cats to take under his wing and care for. The Camp
The camp can be found nestled inside one of the abandoned twoleg nests that can be found scattered along the East Shore. The rogues have repurposed this nest, utilizing the sheltered spaces within the decaying walls for sleeping quarters, communal areas, and prey storage. Patches of moss and leaves are used to create comfortable nests for the cats within the otherwise man-made structures. Throughout the camp and its surroundings, hidden watchposts have been established. Cleverly concealed among the foliage and remnants of the town, these vantage points allow The Brotherhood to keep a vigilant eye on approaching threats or potential allies.

The Plot
The Brotherhood is a rag-tag gang of young misfit rogues and loners who have gathered together under the guidance of Gouge, and have created a sanctuary for themselves within the remains of an old, dilapidated twoleg nest within the abandonded fishing village on the East Shore.

The group is very small, consisting of a few NPCs and player characters.
NPCs should adhere to the site rules, and may be talked about and referenced as much as you like, but their actual presence should be minimal and they aren't allowed to have any dialogue. They are very much filler, background characters that fill out the group a bit, in theory.

The group was pieced together by Gouge himself as he wandered around the Southern Lake before the five Clans arrived; he had found each member during their struggles and helped them, offering to join forces in order to make survival more feasible, and they accepted his kind offer. Now, the small group lives together and looks to Gouge as their fair leader. In the beginning, the group is only vaguely aware of the arrival of the Clans; they know there are suddenly a lot of cats around the lake, but they have not had many interactions with them yet.

The Brotherhood can provide an origin to your rogue characters, giving them a backstory, a purpose, and a basis for interactions and plotting. Each character will be individual, and there is no Warrior Code to guide them like there is in the Clans. Their stories can be open-ended, without many pre-conceived expectations of them.

Eventually, the plan is for The Brotherhood to disband and scatter.
The only planned plot event is the destruction of the group, sometime after the five Clans leave the Southern Lake to return home to the forest. A coyote will attack the camp, killing NPCs and scattering the survivors. Gouge will try to protect his Brotherhood with his life, and be gravely injured during the struggle, but he will fail. Cats will die, and those who remain will scatter, leaving Gouge alone once again. What happens to your characters after the fact is up to you. Will they die in the attack, or be left injured or scarred? If they survive, where will they go? Their fate lies in your hands.
