Apprentice Assessment System

Successful completion of an Assessment gives the assessment-taking character a chance to re-roll ONE dice roll. This can be any single roll, and the roleplayer must state they are using their re-roll as to avoid confusion. If the re-roll goes unused and the assessment-taking character dies, this re-roll buff does not transfer and dies with the character.

A character must successfully complete their apprentice assessment to gain this buff. Only one re-roll buff can be gained. Failed assessments do not count, and will not provide the re-roll buff.

Upon obtaining and using your re-roll, it must be logged. You can use the forms below to show where the re-roll was gained, and where it was used. You can find these forums in your clan information boards.

Re-roll used:

You must log your re-roll within two weeks of the completion of your apprentice assessment in order to gain the buff. Not logging on time voids your re-roll, and you will be unable to use it.

Assessment rules:
  • Any topics to count as an assessment must be made with the in-character context of being an assessment, and must be clearly labeled by having [Assessment] in the title.

  • An Assessment may only replace either the Hunting or Battle requirement, but not both, and the topic must be completed in its entirety.

  • A Senior warrior (T4+) or High Rank (Leader, Deputy) must supervise the assessment.

  • Supervising an Assessment may count towards one of the development requirements of a T4+ Warrior.

  • Supervising a Battle or Hunting assessment can be used for the Tier 4 → Tier 5 apprentice teaching rank requirements

  • You cannot supervise your own assessment.

  • The supervisor of the assessment must be from the same clan as the apprentice.

  • To complete an Assessment that is Hunting based, you must have a minimum of 3 successful prey catches.

  • To complete an Assessment that is Battle based, you must complete the battle either through your character fainting at 0 hp, fleeing at 0 hp, or winning the battle.

In addition to normal apprentices having the opportunity to take assessments, medicine cat apprentices also have the ability to undergo an assessment.

For the medicine cat apprentice assessment, the proctor will select approximately four to six herbs that the apprentice must find. The medicine cat apprentice will roll the "herb hunt" dice, as if conducting a normal herb hunt. If any number above 1 has been rolled, then the apprentice must identify the herb and describe its uses. If the apprentice rolls a 1, they are unable to identify the herb, or find a potentially lethal herb.

An example set of herbs an apprentice may have to find would be as follows:

A cat who has been fully-trained in medicine cat knowledge can proctor the assessment, meaning current or former medicine cats may be able to conduct an assessment for a medicine cat apprentice. They will yield the same prize as other apprentice assessments: the ability to re-roll a dice of their choice. In cases where there is not a full medicine cat to run the assessment, it is highly encouraged to seek out any cats from the medicine cat apprentice's clan that may qualify before going to another Clan to have a cat run the assessment, if necessary.
