She could handle becoming a warrior. She could handle moving about. She couldn't, however, handle both at once. She was not herself and that was evident, though flecks of her old bubbly self pushed through, what was usually there in its place was a skittish, far-away mind. Shadows frightened her again and that hadn't happened in a long time. She tried to stay as close to those she knew as possible. Sleeping came easier but it was broken, and her dreams filled with horrible, wicked scenes. She was afraid of it all, all that she didn't know. She only knew one other cat that had shared a similar fear.
It was easy enough to find Rookflight amongst her other clanmates. Partially because she never strayed too far from them or Larkspring-- a comfort for her--, and partially because she had a sort of innate sense of their whereabouts. It came with a close-knit apprenticeship, she supposed. Although the idea that they had left the comforts of that behind still tugged at her. She drew closer to him and announced herself with a soft 'mrrp', before tipping against his shoulder in a greeting. A fleeting one, she had only ever seen him do such a thing with Larkspring and she did not want to encroach on any discomforts.
"Rookflight?" She asked quietly, a similiar apprehension in her tone as to when they first spoke those many moons ago, like she wasn't sure what she was saying was right. "Can I talk to you about something?"

Rookflight
Rookflight had felt brave for their ceremony. A rare surge of courage, the want to face uncertainty with wonder rather than apprehension. It left shortly after it seized them, but they'd been so caught up in the marvel of being a warrior, of Larkspring and Sunpool and Willowwisp being warriors, they'd almost forgotten to be afraid. It hadn't settled in until they'd crawled into the warrior's den following their vigil, wobbly on their paws and desperate for rest, and had kept themself from sleeping by blearily noting Cinderpaw's absence. Of course she would not be there--she was still an apprentice. Rookflight knew that... but not seeing her among the many familiar faces made them feel inexplicably lonely.
It was manageable, though. For as long as it was to be managed, at least-- there was barely time to adjust to the empty space in their den or the new rituals that came with warriorhood before the half-moon. Rookflight had been dreading the day. It agitated them since the Gathering. They tried not to think about it too much, lest something in their brain snap under the pressure, but it tormented them. Now... the day had come. Had come and had gone. Their initial snappishness had faded into reserve. Rookflight did not feel like themself, mentally and physically. They felt like another cat walking two steps behind their body. The constant noise of every cat in the other Clans, the unfamiliar lands that surrounded them, the hunger that still wreaked havoc on their senses besides growing gradually more plentiful the farther they walked... he wanted nothing more than to lie down in the short, dying grass until it grew over him.
He did not notice Cindersky's approach until she touched him, faraway in the expanse of his mind. The contact brought him back to focus, and Rookflight turned toward her with a slow blink. She had been as shaken by the journey as he was, and it was evident all throughout her. The hesitation in her voice made his resting frown deepen. Rookflight shook his head, trying to push the fog out of his mind. It did not work entirely, but he pushed onward anyway. "Of course," he said, tapping his tail briefly against her side. With no other signal, he padded a little ways away, drifting from the larger crowd. There was no true privacy like this, but it was space enough to give the illusion of it. Then, Rookflight looked back to Cindersky, head tilted slightly. "What is on your mind?"

Cindersky followed after him wordlessly, keeping as close to them as possible while as far from others as possible. She felt horrible for it, but the constant sounds and voices and pelts had left an overwhelming affect on her, and unexpected contact even from walking into someone was quick to send her into a panic.
They reached their quiet spot and she lowered her head, a pitiful sigh passing her lips and she felt her pulse kick up with that same nerve she had when she spoke to Perchstar. Different, not as quick, but she despised bringing up the topic all the same.
"I... I wanted to apologise," She started slowly, her eyes fixed on the black and white bottoms of Rookflights paws. It was easier not to put a face to a fear, not at the beginning. The last thing she wanted to do was to associate Rookflight with a conversation of something that terrified her, and she would rather associate it with some kind of resolution. "When we first met...- I gave you advice I didn't believe in. It was easy to say it and think it, and it made sense, but it..."
Didn't apply to her? That was what she wanted to say, of some variant. She had said it because she knew it truth and it seemed to make him feel better, but no matter how much she ran through the conversation in her head it never comforted her. Her own advice never worked for her. It was right, but when it came to her, it was wrong.
"That and I wanted to ask you how you were doing," She continued. Partially truth, but also a deflection. She would rather ignore the extent of her own fear than acknowledge its existence. "You don't show how you feel much. I don't want you to be sad or scared alone."
