Scarletpaw was positively miserable. The water wasn't safe to drink, let alone to swim in, and the fish were just as unsafe. He had never cared for land-prey, or even for being on land at all--he was happiest diving in the water, showing his skill, but that didn't translate directly to a situation like this.

So now, after hunting and training--with results that felt less like success and more like self-pity--he was left to sprawl out in the center of camp, letting the heavy rainfall wash over him without complaint. It was almost like swimming, except for the part where it wasn't like swimming at all, and if he closed his eyes and let himself imagine he could almost pretend he was back in the river.

Still, that dream only lasted for a few moments, and he glanced over toward the fresh-kill pile; dwindling and only filled with things that looked unappetizing in the first place.

"I miss fish."

Scorchkit padded towards him.
"What's wrong?" she mewed. She'd always wanted to interact with the warriors and apprentices, but they usually ignored her. She was full of excitement following Scarletpaw's gaze, but she stopped at the fresh-kill pile, her smile transforming to a frown quite quickly. "If we want to pass through leaf-fall, we have to do it together, as a clan…" She placed her paw over the apprentice's trying to comfort him.
