Sparrowthorn had been working harder as of late. Without Batsong to shoulder half the load of being medicine cat, it felt as if she were always either out finding fresh herbs, or cleaning out the old dried ones. Not to mention, it felt as if she never had time for her brothers any more. They had been so close as apprentices, and despite her annoyance with anything and everything social, Sparrowthorn missed the interactions she had with them. She even missed interacting with Rosepaw. She thought she had finally found a friend who she wasn't related to. The Medicine Cat supposed it simply wasn't meant to be.

Tired, the small she-cat laid herself out in the sun, next to her den's entrance. The sun was still hot, and slightly oppressive, but there was still a part of her that enjoyed the warmth regardless.

Nectarflower, her belly larger than ever, spotted Sparrowthorn from across the camp. She too was taking some time to relax. She'd tried to stay as active as possible by still volunteering for patrols and hunting, but it got harder and harder to move every day. Just that morning she had to return early to the camp because her paws and back were killing her. Her body seemed to protest any movement that wasn't lying down, and she begrudgingly agreed. Doing anything more strenuous than a brisk walk was a huge drain on her energy.

Her pale green eyes examined the exhausted Sparrowthorn and despite being able to sympathize with the medicine cat, the reasons for their collective tiredness were entirely different. Regardless, she could stand some company and it looked like Sparrowthorn could too. With a groan, Nectarflower hauled herself to her paws and tried to walk as normally as her round belly would allow. She came to a stop just a few tail-lengths from Sparrowthorn and settled down with a relieved sigh.

"Hey, how're you doing? Everything going okay?" She had seen how hard Sparrowthorn had been working as Windclan's only medicine cat. How could she not when she spent most of her time lounging around the camp waiting for her kits to come? If she knew more about herbs, she would try to assist Sparrowthorn but, as it was, her talents were limited to hunting and the occasional spar.
