The fluffy Tom was a chatty thing on the way home from the Moonstone. He had a new name and had while he had woken up crying, he felt euphoric. He had done it! He was a medicine cat! He couldn’t help but put a skip in his step on their way back and before he knew it he was pushing himself through the bramble tunnel that led to camp, “Comfreyheart! Acornstem! I got my name!” He cheered, waving his tail, nearly jumping with excitement as he called his loved ones to him.
The same feeling he had felt with Pricklebush returned, the happiness, the kind that made your head dizzy and your limbs numb - like nothing could stop you. “I’m Echosong!” Happy tears pricked at the corners of his eyes.

Thrush nose
"You're on your own, kid. You've always had been."
"You come away with a great little story of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you."
Thrushnose had been sleeping soundly in his nest, curled up into a ball of sorts to keep himself warm during his nap of the day. Yet before he could've dozed in his sleep for far too long, the cheerful voice of the presumed medicine cat apprentice, Echopaw, came running into camp squealing as joyful as a kit being made into an apprentice. He was worried at first if everything was alright, but the happiness in the fellow tom's voice made it evident that he was overjoyed.
Slipping out from the warriors' den, Thrushnose stretched and chuckled, approaching him to offer the-now Echosong, as he'd just learned, his welcomes. "Congratulations, Echosong. Your name certainly matches you." He chuckled, feeling his heart warm up from how excited Echosong was.

Sageroot was quick to join the toms, purring as she brushed against Echosong. “I knew you could do it! Congratulations! Aahhh I’m just so happy for you!”

Acornstem had awoken early as had quickly become standard - planning and preparing to assign today's patrols when the rustling of the camp entrance perked her ears. She turned to see Echopaw pushing his way in, blinking in surprise - what had he been doing out so early? The answer was given quickly as he called out to her - he had finally gotten his full name. She was on her paws in an instant, a purr tearing its way out of her throat as she padded over with a bright smile.
"Echosong! Oh, its a pretty name," she meowed, padding up to bonk heads with Echosong as she purred even louder. "Its about time - you have deserved it longer than I can imagine. It never felt right for me to have mine while you were still an apprentice," she said, a soft smile curling at her muzzle. They had been kits together, apprenticed at around the same time...Yet because she had only sought the warrior path, she had gotten her name so much sooner while he had changed paths after he had returned from being taken by those twolegs. "I'm so proud of you, Echosong."

Comfreyheart
Despite her best efforts to stay awake, the senior warrior eventually fell prey to her dreams. A night spent excitedly awaiting the return of Thunderclan’s medicine cats resulted in herb-filled dreams instead of the usual mouse chasing. Morphed memories of herb gathering with her sister and son placated her until dawn and well after.
Tucked away near the medicine den lay an ebony molly whose ears flicked at the sound of her name. At first it did not cause her to stir, but once the voice was processed in her subconscious mind she woke with a start. “Echopaw?” she sleepily called out. Comfreyheart thoroughly shook her head awake, fluffing out her mane fur. The voice rang out once more declaring a beautiful new name. She was over in an instant, nearly colliding with her handsome, blue-eyed son. “Echosong!” she cried with a tight embrace. He had done it! Her son was a wise, kind, wonderful, skilled medicine cat! Deep, deep within her chest did she begin to purr. “You’ve…” she murmured shakily, “You’ve done so well, my baby. My Echosong.” It didn’t take words for her to say how proud she was.
Cats had always said that apprenticeship was the time for you to grow into your pelt, become who you were meant to be. During his own apprenticeship he had never felt that way. Yet when he stood in the center of camp with his clan that he called his family - he felt like he had truly found himself.
The first to greet him was Thrushnose, the tom congratulated him and while he hadn't spoken often to the warrior, he was very appreciative. Then his dear friend Sageroot came over and he returned the gesture, "Thank you guys!" he purred. Just as he stepped away from them, looking at the crowd around him and murmuring his thank yous, he heard his dearest and closest friend and he just about burst into tears.
The tom chuckled, "I finally caught up." he mused, thinking of the same thing she was. Their divergence of paths had caused them to gain their full names at different paths and now the two friends had finally caught up to each other. Deputy and medicine cat. Echosong often thought about their new ranks within the clan. It was amusing how the friends had grown up to be the deputy and a medicine cat. While he never would've guessed they would become anything beyond warriors, Echosong hoped he would be at Acornstem's side from now if she became leader and beyond. As a forever friend and as a colleague the tom could see them sharing tongues in Starclan and guiding future generations of Thunderclanners. "Thank you, Acornstem."
Before he could say anything more his mother's voice cut through the crowd and he raced towards her, nearly tackling the dark-furred molly, "Momma. I did it.." he cried happily. He had come a long way from the paint-covered kitten brought into camp by Comfreyheart. Who would've known that the small, scruffy-looking kitten with the strange dialogue would become the strong and skilled medicine cat that he was today? In truth, even he was impressed.
