Tussling [c]

Palekit had found staying in the nursery an absolute bore. Once his parents had taken him out for a small trip outside of camp, where he had seen the vast world. The sky had seemed to stretch on endlessly, the hills and flowers spreading out like a coat over the world. He had been shocked to see just how big the world could be, and now that he was stuck in camp again, his paws itched to go out. Constantly, his gaze flickered to the camp entrance, but time and time again he was caught trying to escape. So they had dragged him here, kept him in an even smaller space. Palekit was going mad.

Suddenly, somethings pounced onto his tail. The fluffy ginger tom jumped up, whirling around to face his attacker. He met a grey-and-white splotched kit no bigger than himself, someone who he had seen before but never talked to. Palekit's eyes narrowed playfully. Was this kit really challenging him to a fight? Great! Maybe if he won he could prove to his parents that he was ready to head out of camp. And if he lost... well, it was a lesson he had to learn.

The tabby let out a snarl and lunged forward, barreling into the grey-and-white tom-kit. His teeth snapped at his opponent's ears, and he all but flipped the other kit around. "Take that!" Palekit cheered, blue eyes shining with excitement.

Palekit couldn't help the huge smile that spread across his face as his opponent retaliated just as quickly, reaching up to bat at the ginger tom's ears. Blue eyes immediately narrowed in on his friend's exposed belly, and with a triumphant yowl he threw himself at Marigoldkit, using his shoulders to knock the other kit off their paws. The ginger tabby's eyes were shining with the thrill of exchanging blows, a thrill he had hardly ever felt before. It was what drove his paws to lash out ruthlessly at his opponent, batting at Marigoldkit's chest with unnerving speed. It wouldn't hurt, of course, at best leave behind a few bruises, but this was fun!

Palekit hadn't realized where Marigoldkit was getting at until he had been kicked off and sent tumbling away and a flailing mess of paws and tail. The ginger tom skidded to a stop, and took a moment to recover his balance. "Nice move, comrade!" He cheered, "But this fight isn't over just yet!" With that, the tabby charged at his opponent again, this time pouncing straight onto the lanky tom and shoving him face-first into the nursery floor.

It seemed that he had underestimated his opponent, as Marigoldkit hooked his paws around his neck. Palekit found himself trapped, and his paws lashed out uselessly at empty air. The tom laughed, his entire filled with more energy than he could ever remember. This was a good fight! The tabby thrashed around like a fish out of water, until at last he managed to break free of his denmate's hold on him. Palekit scrambled to his paws, giving his sparring partner a huge smile. "Nice move! Where did you learn that?" He asked. Without waiting for a reply, Palekit darted forward to give Marigoldkit's tail a sharp nip.
