The dawn was breaking over the tops of the trees as Echopaw made his way through the tunnel of ferns that hid the medicine den. He stepped carefully through the clearing trying not to wake up any of his clanmates. Echopaw dropped the bundle of herbs at the door of the apprentice den before poking his head in, "Brindlepaw, come, it's time for your Moonstone Journey." he called, his voice loud enough to cut through the snoring but not enough to wake up others.
Ducking his head out he waited until she made her way out and nodded his head giving her an encouraging smile, "We're going to journey to Mouthermouth, these herbs will help you stay strong and not get so hungry on our journey as we won't have time to stop to hunt." he explained as he pushed them towards her, "Alright. Let's go." was all he meowed before padding towards the exit to camp. He made a mental note to take it a little slow, he recalled she had just come to see them with some wounds on her belly from a border scuffle, he wasn't about to re open them with pushing their pace too fast.

Brindlepaw woke quickly at the medicine cat's call, but still found herself a little wobbly with sleep as she rose to her feet. She shook her pelt in an effort to wake up and rid her speckled fur of leaf or moss scraps before joining Echopaw outside of the den. She gulped down the herbs, and tried to forget about them the second she had done so, but the bitter taste in her mouth remained as an unpleasant reminder of them. Nodding, she followed the other cat out of camp.
As silence fell between them Echopaw found comfort in the journey itself, he gave Brindlepaw her space and didn't pressure her to speak but he occasionally would give the molly an encouraging flick with his tail, or flash her a small smile, "Almost there, yes." he meowed as they passed through Fourtrees, passed the Thunderpath and beyond.

By the time they reached Mother mouth the moon was at the highest in the sky and Echopaw was quite exhausted, his paws ached slightly and his stomach grumbled, "Ah we're here." he meowed to her softly, "Follow close behind me, you can bite my tail if you need to to guide you while we're in the caves." Echopaw offered, his gaze friendly. Down, down, down they went. The caves grew cold under his paws and it seemed like the darkness would never end. Until - a blue light glowed on the walls of the cavern and the tunnel opened up into a room. In the center of the room lay a bright crystal, the moon shone through a hole in the ceiling, "Lay next to the stone and press your nose to it. Starclan will meet with you in your dreams. I'll be here when you wake up." he promised, urging the apprentice forward.
