Written in Stone [OPEN]

The sun had not fully risen yet, and the breeze as the patrol of Skyclanners almost made the heat tolerable to Stoneheart. Pale green eyes scanned the surroundings, taking note of a a few birds that had already began their own search for food. This wasn't a hunting patrol, and she was more interested in potential threats they could spot from this great height. There had been a hunting patrol sent out as well though, and Stoneheart could see their pelts below through the trees. She was content to watch as one of her distant clanmates brought down a squirrel, and then the warrior turned, making her way to the next branch in her path.

Ambersun couldn't help but enjoy herself on this patrol.

Perhaps it was the cool breeze bristling her fur, perhaps it was the warm sunrise batting down her pelt, perhaps it was the fact they hadn't found anything dangerous. She didn't know for sure, but she could feel the rush of excitement through her pelt. "Man, the sun feels really nice, don'tcha think, Stoneheart?" She hoped Stoneheart was enjoying this, too, even if she cared more about their duty rather than enjoying themselves. Life was short, so she hoped her clanmates were making the most of their time here.

She watched as the warrior in the distance buried their catch and turned, probably on the hunt for more prey. There was no scent of predator nearby, and a quick scan through the trees showed nothing but a quiet forest, a squirrel or bird here and there. It was peaceful, soothing... Stoneheart wished it could stay like this.

"It does!" Stoneheart nodded at Ambersun. They had been denmates for a while, though Stoneheart had the bad habit of keeping to herself mostly. "How've you been lately, Ambersun?" Small talk was awkward but... She wanted to get to know her clanmates more.

Ambersun was glad that Stoneheart felt just as relaxed. Honestly, she was a little worried that she'd be more of a stickler about this kind of stuff, but it seemed like she was just a little shy. "Well... I've been good! I've mostly been just talking with some of my clanmates, honestly. Crookedlight and Silverwing are really fun hanging out with." She unfortunately hadn't done anything crazy fun recently, mostly because she found herself devoid of ideas.

Maybe she could try swimming in the river, but Lightningbreeze had done that already. Crossing the ThunderClan border was a no-go because of that apprentice who was probably one of their warriors by now, and to cross RiverClan's border she would have to swim over.

"What about you, Stoneheart? How does a girl like you spend her spare time?"

"Crookedlight's nice," Stoneheart agreed, "I haven't had a chance to really meet Silverwing yet. She seems... Energetic." That she hadn't actually had the cchance to speak with the she-cat was surprising, actually. But then, Stoneheart often found herself simply watching her clanmates rather than really engaging them, aside from her sister and former mentor.

"Sparring and hunting, mostly... Kinda boring, I suppose. But it's better than sitting in camp doing nothing... Which has honestly been kind of appealing now that it's getting so hot out." Stoneheart had been determined not to be as lazy as her once-mentor was. She always strove to make herself useful in some way rather than lazing about.

Heavier pawsteps sounded behind them as Stormwatcher joined them both. "hmm is perfect weather not sure why all the fuss" he grunted with a stetch.

"This is the kind of weather where you find a good big rock or tree branch out in the sun and stretch out for a nice nap. The sun bakes your pelt and makes for the best of times"

"hmm if you are too hot you guys wanna go down by the river and cool off?" he asked in suggestion.

Ambersun chuckled at Stormwatcher's comment. The lazy tom seemed to always prefer to relax around rather than do stuff. Honestly, Ambersun couldn't fathom sleeping an entire day away. If anything, she'd be sitting down planning to make her day as fun as possible, not just letting it pass by. Life was short, and she wanted to make the most of it. "Honestly, a trip to the river doesn't sound half-bad," Ambersun replied. "After we get back, though. I'd rather not be scolded out by Birdstar for abandoning this patrol." Unfortunately, they still had duties to follow right now.
