Wish upon a dream [Open]

Patchdream stretched as she awoke from her nice dream. The sun wasn't up yet so the nursery was still dark but she could still see the sleeping figures of kits, some next to their mothers while others with their siblings. Patchdream sat up with a big yawn, happy to have made this choice of being the clan's permanent queen. She loved taking care of the mothers who wants a little break, while also taking care of the orphan cats.

Patchdream padded out of the nursery to get a small piece of prey as she noticed the clan starting to wake up. She padded towards the fresh kill pile, grabbing a small mouse, before sitting near the nursery to enjoy her meal.   

Beechfang had not been a medicine cat in a long time, but the habit of rising at the crack of dawn had stuck with her for one reason or another. The warrior's den was a crowded one, and she was glad to step out into the nearly empty camp. Others would be waking soon, but for now it was just the night guards who kept watched... And who seemed to be one of the queens taking a piece of fresh kill. It was a strange feeling, to not recognize the majority of the cats who shared the same camp as her. Once it would have been Lynxpetal or Primroselight sitting in front of the nursery, and Beechfang wouldn't have hesitated to join them in sharing tongues. An apprentice called out a greeting to her from his own den, not hesitating to greet a clanmate.

The warrior gave her head a small shake. There was no such familiarity here. It made her hesitate, unsure of approaching. This was home to her... But sometimes it didn't feel like it. The unfamiliar faces outnumbered the familiar, making her feel just a bit out of place. It was something to get used to, she knew. Something to move past.

"Morning," She mewed softly, nodding at the pair before falling silent. She was reluctant to intrude, unsure of where she stood within this clan of strangers. But she wanted to build something more than just the few faces that remained from her own youth.

Patchdream Smiled as she heard the apprentice call out for her. Oh yes, Quite so, How about you come this way though as to not wake up the light sleepers. I know how grouchy they can get being awoken so early." she mewed back to him with a slight laugh. Watching over kits was how she knew most cats hated being awake this early unless it was an emergency.

Patchdream saw the warrior and gave a small smile of welcoming. "Hello, Havent seen you around, My name is Patchdream, The permanent queen of the clan. I know all the kits before they become apprentices, Heck i probably even watched over some when their moms were tired." She meowed forgetting that not all hesitant cats like someone who doesnt stop talking, but patchdream loved her role in the clan and loved to talk about it.

The queen seemed to share no hesitance about breaking the silence, quick to introduce herself as Patchdream, and Beechfang dipped her head politely. "Beechfang, nice to meet you." She was familiar with their duties, though the way Patchdream spoke it was clear that she enjoyed what she did. Their role was an important one, just as any warrior was.

The apprentice seemed more wary of her, though eventually waved his tail for her to join them. Beechfang stepped closer and sat, fluffy tail curling over large paws. "It's nice to enjoy the peace, I'm sure others will wake soon enough, morning cats or not." She had only been back a few days, but it was enough to see how cheerful their deputy was in the mornings when she assigned patrols. Soon enough the camp would be busy. "I'm no morning person... Some habits just stick with you. Had to, as a medicine cat." Thank the stars the long trip to highstones was no longer her responsibility.

Patchdream saw the unease in the apprentice so started to groom his head as a way to comfort him. Her motherly instincts also came out with no control from her so she never even realized what she was doing. "I definitely understand the peace part. This is one of the few moments i can take a break from playful kits. Do you like being back?" she mewed but then went back to calming down the apprentice.

He seemed like a good kid but would definitely need a confidence booster, Maybe go on more patrols and hunts to gain some. "Anything fun that you have been learning whinchatpaw?" she asked him trying to get more conversation out of him when she finished grooming him.

"I'm glad to be back," Beechfang nodded at the queen, "Things are different, but it's still Skyclan. Things are calmer than they were in the past." For how long that would remain the case, Beechfang was unsure. But for the moment she was determined to enjoy it.

"Dawnfeather's a great climber. Ravenclaw, too. Sometimes I think those two spend more time in trees than they do on the ground. If there's any cat to learn from, it's those two." Beechfang preferred to have her paws safely on the forest floor. Wolfstar hadn't taught her to climb all that much, though she had eventually grown to be passable at it. It had only taken one mistake that ended with the old leader saving her from what would have been (and had been for him) a deadly fall to convince Beechfang that climbing wasn't totally necessary. After being struck by lightning and losing her depth perception... She was very much content to stay on the ground, thank you.

Patchdream smiled at whinchatpaw, loving that the tom had a goal. "I hope you succeed in that." she mewed to him before agreeing with beechfang. "I havent hunted in a while but when i used to be a warrior i never liked hunting in the trees. I was way to clumsy." she mewed with a laugh.
