It was a sweltering day in Skyclan. The sun was shining brightly down into the clearing and for soft kit paws, it was almost painful to walk on the sunbaked earth. Most kits would brave the sun to spend a day out of the nursery, but Bearkit wasn't one of them.

He would much rather lay on a nice shaded rock than play with the other kits just to get hot, tired, and dirty. So that's what he was doing. Laying on a rock, in the shade, keeping one eye open to watch over his littermates.

The Juniperheart look-a-like lifted his head briefly to look around, wondering where Sunfure was. Oddly enough, he was in the mood to do something.

Bearkit was insanely bored and though he didn't want to actually get up, having someone to keep him company might be nice. Maybe he could convince one of his sisters to come over?

They could do something fun...maybe? The only real reason to get up would be if they went and did something cool. Like sneak out of the camp, hunt a bird or maybe even get into the warriors den. Now that sounded like fun.

However, he was a well behaved kit. He didnt want to sneak out of the camp and worry Juniperheart, who was already feeling bad. But...no cat had ever told him that he wasn't allowed into the warriors den...

Bearkit looked away for a moment and shook his head, enjoying the brief breeze the movement brought. The relief was short lived, though, and he found himself heating up once again. He wasn't sure how his littermates did it, especially Ploverkit, who was as fluffy if not more so than he was.

The blue-eyed kit frowned. He had half a mind to call Ploverkit over and out of the sun, but he didn't want to ruin her fun. Luckily, she seemed tuckered out before long, so he didn't even need to get up.

For a little bit, Bearkit thought about joining his littermates for a moment, but thought better of it when he saw Ploverkit approach him.

With a lazy smile, he nodded before scooting over to make room for his sister on the rock. There was plenty of room for both of them, but she'd been out in the sun and needed it more than he did.

"Sure. I was getting pretty bored anyway..."

Bearkit's voice came out as a raspy little squeak, and he cleared his throat before continuing. "Uhm, I know you just got settled, but do you wanna do something?" He smiled again and added, "I heard that the warrior's den is really breezy." Plus, maybe they'd run into a cool, scary warrior.

Bearkit watched as Ploverkit laid down to cool off, his blue gaze almost unblinking. He should have pulled her out of the sun sooner if she was this overheated. Well, what was done was done and there wasnt much he could do about it now. He inched away from her so she had as much space as possible, then waited while she cooled off.

He hummed at her response to his earlier question and got up, his whiskers twitching. "Yeah, sure. I think there's a hole in the back of the den..." Not that he had snuck back there before to eavesdrop on the warriors. Oh no. Bearkit would never do that.

However, braving the heat just wouldnt do. Bearkit peered out from the shade, searching for a good path to the warrior's den. Ah - there! Along the edge of the camp were a row of low hanging branches. They were provide both cover and shade for their expedition. Yes - it was perfect.

"C'mon, I found a path." Realistically, there was nothing stopping them from waltzing right up the the warriors den, but Bearkit wasn't a fan of getting into trouble.

So, the brown and white tom gor to his paws and gestured toward the edge of the camp. "There. It leads right ti the warriors den."

Bearkit glanced back at Ploverkit, his tail twitching uncertainly. Mischievous? He wasn't being Mischievous - that was Cypresskit's job. He was just getting his dear little sister to a nice, protected spot to cool off. And where was more safe and cool than the warrior's den? Plenty of warriors had been complaining of the draftiness, which basically meant it was cold, right?

The brown tom-kit huffed disapprovingly as they neared the den. "I'm not being mischievous. I'm making sure you don't get too hot out here." He stood aside once they reached the secret entrance, allowing Ploverkit to go in first. Bearkit's blue eyes went wide at her sound of alarm, and he padded forward, concerned.

"Ploverkit! Are you okay?" The young kit, headless of the thorns, pushed his way into the den after his sister, ignoring the thorns and branches that caught at his pelt. He was a little bigger than Ploverkit and if she'd had a hard time getting in, he had an even harder one. However, Bearkit didn't pay any mind to his stinging ears or the bits of his fur that were now stuck to the branches.

He sniffed Ploverkit's carefully, and hesitated once he noticed the missing patch of fur on her shoulder. "Oh...I'm sorry Plover, your coat..." Luckily, the damage seemed superficial, but the brown and white tom still felt bad.
