Noon's Rest [Littlepaw]

It was sunhigh, and several patrols were returning to camp, including Wolfblossom's own. The air was hot and it was humid, with a few clouds above that had the sun in hiding every so often. The deputy dropped two birds onto the fresh-kill pile, then made her way toward the edge of camp, settling beneath the shade of the tallbranch. She tried not to schedule patrols to leave around sunhigh given how obnoxiously hot it was, out of consideration for the thick fur of most of her clanmates, so until the patrols resumed later, many in camp seemed happy to rest or share tongues with one another. A couple kits played outside the nursery, and the deputy rested her head on her paws, a silent observer to the goings-on around camp.

Littlepaw was sitting behind the apprentice den waiting to scare someone but no one even showed up. Most apprentices were already in the den taking naps, or out with friends. Littlepaw was about to give up before she suddenly noticed Wolfblossom. The older she-cat was just silently watching the camp and so Littlepaw got an idea.

The white apprentice started sneaking around, trying to get behind Wolfblossom. Once she was close enough, littlepaw pounced, landing directly on the deputy's back. With a few mews, Littlepaw started to nibble on the older cat. "I, littlepaw, challenge wolfblossom, for deputy!" She mewed loudly while pretending to stick her claws into the warrior's flank.

Movement caught the deputy's watchful gaze, one of the apprentices trying to sneak around the edge of camp. Wolfblossom gave little indication that she noticed, keeping her head on her paws, but if one looked closely they would find the twitch of her ears as light pawsteps got closer to her.

Wolfblossom smiled softly to herself... And then the apprentice's weight landed on her back. "Littlepaw!" The deputy twisted, batting at the apprentice with carefully-sheathed paws. "I suppose a deputy ought to be more alert, that's true. But you'll have to fight me for it." She smirked.

Littlepaw giggled as she started to fake fight with wolfblossom over deputy. "I will be the best deputy!" she mewed loudly nibbling on Wolfblossom's ears as a distraction as she "clawed" at her flank some more.

"The best, hmm?" Wolfblossom reached up a paw, intending to bap Littlepaw directly on the nose. "If you can sneak up on me like that, maybe you have a shot, little one." A purr rumbled in her throat. Some may have thought apprentices should act more mature... But Wolfblossom enjoyed watching the antics of her younger clanmates. There were some in the clan who simply took everything a bit too seriously, and that couldn't have been healthy. They all had to relax and have fun every once in a while.
