Subject: A Hunt [Creamsky] Sun Jun 25, 2023 3:35 pm
The sun struggled to peek out from behind the clouds, but a breeze cut through air that might have otherwise been oppressively stagnant. Shaking out her pelt, Graywind kept pace with Creamsky as the pair headed toward the creek that cut through Skyclan territory. She didn't know the older warrior well, though he seemed to be well-respected.
Before she had the chance to say anything, the sound of something moving through the branches above quickly caught Graywind's attention. Moving quietly, the silvery she-cat leaped into the trees, carefully making her way toward a squirrel. Her prey proved to be too slow to react to the claws that caught bushy fur, and Graywind dropped back to the rocky forest floor with her catch.
Graywind attempted to catch a squirrel for -3 sp, catch was successful. 117 / 120 sp

Creamsky smiled softly to himself as he padded just slightly ahead of Graywind, enjoying the silence that had fallen over them. He didn't know her very well - they had been apprentices together but had never truly gotten the chances to talk. But, well, she was a kit of Wolfblossom so he was certain they could be friends if given the chance to truly get to know each other...Hopefully. He turned as he heard her path change - watching as she jumped into the trees and scrambled up. It didn't take long before she had dropped back onto the path, a squirrel hanging from her jaws.
"Good catch, Graywind," he meowed with a nod, before he paused to taste the air himself - he wasn't about to let himself be outdone even if they hadn't managed to reach the creek yet. Soon, he spotted a fat little robin poking among the tree roots. Dropping into a couch, he stalked his way forward before making a leap - easily catching it without alerting it and soon padded back to his patrol partner with a proud huff. Creamsky attempted to catch a bird, costing 3 stamina and succeeded.

"Thanks," Graywind ducked her head at the praise. Her clanmate was quick to find his own prey and dispatch it with ease, and she returned the smile. "Nice catch, as well." She had grown up at the tail end of leafbare, where hunting had not seemed so easy, and that made her all the more grateful for the turn of luck since the warmer weather.
Another bird caught her eye, picking at something on the ground. Graywind carefully dropped into a crouch, stalking towards it. The bird seemed intent on whatever meal it had found for itself, seeming not to notice as the Skyclanner leaped with power hind legs. A front paw had the bird pinned quickly, and it took little effort before Graywind turned back to Creamsky with her catch.

Creamsky glanced over as Graywind wasted no time in going after a bird - catching it to add to their growing pile of prey. He smirked, giving her a nod of his head. It was a shame the two of them had never gone out on a hunting patrol sooner, it was clear she was a natural. Given enough time, they could likely feed all of SkyClan themselves he noted with a huff. "You know, Graywind, we haven't had a chance to speak - so I am just curious on how things have been going for you," he meowed as he spared a glance around, checking the forest for prey of his own to hunt. "But no need to answer - we can go back to hunting in silence if that is what you prefer. Just thought I would make an attempt at small talk."

Graywind glanced at the cream warrior as he spoke. "Well enough... We really haven't talked, have we? Some denmates we are." Her lips twitched into an amused smile. He'd given her an out too, but she wasn't inclined to take it. Graywind didn't mind silence, of course, but she really should know her own clanmates better than she did. Sometimes it was easier to watch than it was to start a conversation. "What about you?"

A huff escaped Creamsky, but it was a good-natured one as he smirked back at her. "I suppose we are cats who just prefer to focus on tasks than make small-talk," he mused. While he would go out of his way to make time to chat with his friends, those were cats he was on good terms with already. For the Clanmates outside of his little friend bubble...Well, he suppose he wasn't the most talkative - always focusing on how he could next help the Clan as he enjoyed the feeling of his paws being busy with one thing or another. "Much the same, truth be told - nothing exciting in my life but I suppose that is for the best."

"True. And it's not such a bad thing, really. I don't know how my mother can keep up with constant chatter, I think I'd go insane if I were her. But having friends to talk to is also nice." Even if most of those friends happened to be siblings, or other family.
"I suppose a not-exciting life isn't a bad thing... Especially if you listen to some of the tales the older warriors find exciting." Graywind chuckled. "I wouldn't call this boring, but it is peaceful. Of course, peaceful as long as we ignore gatherings, but still, even that doesn't involve us, soooo..."
