The warrior that was leading their small patrol was just upstream, crouching by the riverbank with their eyes fixated on the water. Drizzlepaw turned to Mothpaw with a friendly smile, flicking her tail lightly against the other’s flank in greeting. They hadn’t interacted much since kithood, but she rather thought she would consider the other a friendly acquaintance.
The wispy-pelted silent she-cat led the way to the river, sitting silently by the side and turning to Mothpaw with a curious look. How have you been?
Mothpaw had not seen the quiet apprentice much since her apprentice ceremony, having been swept up in the excitement of training and newfound responsibility. She had a tendency to keep to herself though, as of late, she had been meeting new faces. It was nice though, to spend some time with a familiar face. It was a shame they had to be under supervision, casting a quick look towards the warrior upstream. The river. It left her in awe, scanning over the gently rippling surface.
Mothpaw considered the excitement of venturing off but decided today was not the day, nor would she particularly enjoy being reprimanded. No, it was nice on the riverbank with the sun on her fur, catching up with Drizzlepaw. She turned to study the apprentice’s expression, as though she wanted to ask something…
“I’m tired and I don’t even do much! I just keep getting excited for training and not being able to sleep.” Her tail twitched, tilting her head slightly, “what about you, how have you been?”

Drizzlepaw shrugged slightly at the other apprentice’s question, tail-tip twitching. She… she was fine, she supposed. Certainly not worrying about training as much as she used to, mind occupied with thoughts of WindClan and wars and too-fierce, overly aggressive cats with sharp claws. The wispy-pelted apprentice leaned over the water, reflection rippling and shadow firmly on the riverbank- no use scaring off the fish, after all.
Hooked claws dug into the prey’s gills, slapping the fish against the sandy bank and killing it with a quick bite. Drizzlepaw turned to Mothpaw, a silent give-it-a-try? and tell-me-more. She didn’t mind listening.
(Ooc: feel free to summon a predator if you need that req!)

Mothpaw often felt bad for talking so much, though at the same time admittedly enjoyed rattling away— and she would. Perhaps Drizzlepaw would enjoy trivia she had learnt, or recent gossip. She admittedly had little gossip as of late but that wouldn’t prevent her from thinking of something.
“Nice catch!” She meowed with a grin, watching the other apprentice. “I heard ShadowClan have to eat toads,” her tail twitched behind her as she threw a look towards Drizzlepaw, wrinkling her nose, “imagine that! I’m so glad we have fish. Do you like fish?” If she didn’t, what kind of RiverClan cat are you! Mothpaw thought to herself, glancing out to the river. She watched the shadows that shifted under the river, waiting for them to grow closer. It was a moment of quiet, as she focused her attention on the prey.
It was a moment of quiet, as she focused her attention on the prey. It took a few moments of waiting patiently for a shadow to edge closer to where Mothpaw perched, too tempting to let pass. She took a deep breath, trying to keep her shadow from overhanging into the water before she prepared to dart her black paw into the water. However, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a snake slithering on the water’s surface. The fish scattered as she sat up quickly, stepping back further on the riverbank as the snake slithered towards the apprentices. For StarClan sake! Mothpaw’s heart beat quickly, having only wanted to fish under the sun. There was no time for panic however - there were two of them and one snake. Just as it lurched forward Mothpaw threw her paw forward instinctively, unsheathing her claws. She scratched at the snake before jumping backwards, having only angered it.
