Echopaw hadn't spoken to Copperpaw much but he was just as happy nonetheless when he was told the apprentice was ready to meet with Starclan. This was a monumental moment in every cat's life and he felt extremely honored to be a part of it. The tom shuffled his way into the apprentice den, he had just gotten back from taking Sagepaw and now was ready for yet another trip. The bundle of herbs rested in his mouth as he found Copperpaw and nudged them awake, "Moonstone." he meowed, his voice slightly muffled by the bitter herbs. "Are you ready?" he inquired as he dropped the herbs at the apprentice's feet.

Copperpaw was already awake when Echopaw stepped into the den and nudged her awake. She slipped out of the den after the tom, careful not to step on any cat. In response to Echopaw's question, she nodded, though her insides were churning with worry and fear. Could he smell her fear? Copperpaw swallowed the herbs without a word as she desperately tried to push her feelings away. Please don't think poorly of me, she begged silently in her mind to Echopaw. Tonight, she would face Starclan for the first time, and tonight, she would find out whether she deserved to be in a clan she had no blood of.

Echopaw faithfully led the way to Mothermouth, he was grateful for the nice weather and that they hadn't run into anyone. Any fear he detected he didn't comment on it, but he made sure to flash an encouraging smile her way. Echopaw did his best to be a good traveling companion, though he let a comfortable silence fall between them as they traveled. Occasionally he would comment on something but he never expected any response.

By the time they reached Highstones the moon was almost at its highest in the sky. A bird passed overhead causing a shadow to pass over them, giving him an uneasy feeling in his stomach. Brushing it off the apprentice pushed forward, "Hmm. Stay close, it gets really dark. Yes." he meowed nodding as he entered.
The cave was moist and cold against his paw pads as he navigated the narrow caves. His whiskers twitched as they neared the opening and suddenly the path widened to reveal the Moonstone in front of them. The stone shone brightly within the large cave, there was no mistaking its beauty and its grandeur was as jaw-dropping as his first visit.
"Press your nose to the stone, then you meet with Starclan in your dreams." he encouraged, as he took his own place near the stone, "When you wake up I'll be here to take you home. Yes."

Copperpaw didn't stop once throughout the whole journey, not even to collect herself when she saw the Moonstone for the first time. Whatever glory it had was lost in the apprentice's whirl of thoughts. Echopaw's words, too, flew past her. The tortoiseshell stepped forward and crouched down as instructed, pressing her nose softly to the cool stone. Starclan, take me with mercy, she prayed before sleep dragged her away from the world. A feeling similar to suffocation weighed down on her as she tried to fight it, but to no avail. ___________________________________
Copperpaw awoke to the scent of running water and stone. Star-lit plains stretched as far as the eye could see, with flowers of all kind and grass that ran to her flank. A soft breeze brushed against her fur, carrying the scents of rabbit and dew. There was no trees to obstruct her vision here, no roots to trip her, and no ferns to block her when she ran. So this is Starclan... truly paradise.
A large ginger tabby stepped in front of her. His eyes were warm, but that wasn't what stood out to her the most. Copperpaw couldn't quite shake the feeling that she had seen this tom before. That familiar tabby stripes, those amber eyes, the rich ginger... where had she seen it all before? And why was his scent so familiar? The tom gave her a gentle smile, a smile as warm as the sun. "My name is Sunfire. I was from Blazefang's first litter, but I passed a few sunrise before you were born," Sunfire introduced himself. Copperpaw's eyes flew open. Her brother! Of all the Starclan cats to meet... she had met the one she wanted to meet in life the most. Was this Starclan's way of apologizing for ripping the tom from life just as she was born?
"Is there anything you wish to know?" Sunfire gently prompted the she-cat. Right, she was supposed to receive some sort of divine knowledge or something. A dozen questions burned at her tongue, all far too self-centered. At last, one slipped out. "Will I ever become a true Thunderclan Warrior?" Copperpaw whispered the question. She stood before Starclan, suddenly terrified of what answer they would give. But Sunfire merely rested his chin on her head. "Follow your heart. It will lead you to home," He answered in response.
Copperpaw opened her mouth to reply, but already the tom was fading. The stars went out, one after another, before it was all dark. She woke to her nose feeling as if it was going to fall out any moment. Her heart was still racing with the dream. It had been real, right? Sunfire really did greet her in those star-lit plains? She rubbed her nose with a paw gently, then nodded at Echopaw. It was time to go home.
