Subject: The Perfect Daughter [Leopardsun] Sun 28 May 2023 - 12:49
Moondancer carelessly tossed her catch onto the fresh-kill pile, and her pale green eyes turned toward the rest of camp. The recent meeting and Nightpaw's demotion - and the rise of her mother as leader and her sister as temporary deputy - was still fresh in her mind. She'd been meaning to find her mother at some point, mostly just because she hadn't really spent time with her recently. And privately, Moondancer could admit she was a little jealous of Badgermask getting the position of temporary deputy. Not that her sister wouldn't do an excellent job, she was sure.
Spotting her mother across camp, Moondancer trotted toward her, "Hey mom," Moondancer mewed. "How are you?"

Leopardsun was doing all she could to not focus on her position as ShadowClan's acting leader- worrying about Badgermask and making sure her daughter wasn't overwhelmed, keeping an eye on the Clan's apprentices, maintaining the usual extra tasks she assigned herself to keep her mind off of things. But now the dens were repaired, the patrols assigned and sent out, the apprentices' training done for the day, and she was left to collapse in her favored corner of camp for a short rest.
She hadn't expected Moondancer's approach, but lifted her head with what she hoped was a reassuring smile. She wasn't too bad at faking it, but she wasn't sure if her kits had caught on to when she wasn't being entirely genuine or not. "Well, it's been a little stressful, but it's nothing I can't handle," she said lightly, shifting to the side in case Moondancer wanted to join her. "Did you need something? Or just company?"

Leopardsun moved over, and Moondancer sat next to her, tail curling over her paws. Her mother's smile was always reassuring, and Moondancer purred, affectionately leaning against her for a moment before pulling back. "I didn't need anything, really." She mewed, and that was, in her mind, mostly true. "I can't imagine how stressful leading the clan is, for you and Badgermask." She shook her head, "Poor Badger has kinda been thrown into this, hasn't she? I'm worried for her." It was true, Moondancer was worried for her. "Do you think she can handle it? I mean, I wouldn't question your decisions - stars knows you're the competent one after all - I just... I'm worried how she'll handle the suddenness of it all." She added, tone sickeningly sincere with the expression to match. Surely Leopardsun would have wanted someone else and not poor, shy Badgermask? Someone like Moondancer, who would never falter under such horrific stress.
