Scatterbrain [Lionstripe]

Graywind swore under her breath as she hurried out of the medicine den. She had been visiting Quickpaw, who was still sick, and had completely lost track of time, staying with her until the apprentice had fallen back asleep. Wolfblossom would probably be understanding of it, but Graywind's fur still prickled with embarrassment, ears flattened as she approached the rest of the patrol with hurried pawsteps. She would never have allowed herself to be late to a patrol before... Perhaps her worry for her siblings was getting to her more than she thought it was. At least she hadn't kept the patrol waiting for too long...

"I'm sorry I kept you waiting, I didn't realize how late it was. I was visiting Quickpaw and... Well, she's asleep now." Graywind gave her head a small shake in an effort to clear it, offering Lionstripe an apologetic glance. "...Sorry. Let's... Get going." She mewed.

Lionstripe had been eager to be on patrol and get to work, but he'd be lying if he said he wasn't concerned about Quickpaw. He didn't know the apprentice, but he couldn't imagine how awful it was to be sick all of the time. How could Quickpaw handle the restlessness, the loneliness, the anxiety? It was a curse he was glad he didn't have, but he pitied all that did. Despite his eagerness to go on the hunt, he waited patiently and without complaint for Graywind to show up.

"I don't mind the wait. Is there anything Quickpaw may need before we return?" He did his best to offer his assistance and let Graywind know that he cared more than she gave him credit for. He padded out of camp with her, ears swiveling and honing in on any sound that seemed out of place. That said, his eyes remained on Graywind, his otherwise undivided attention on her.

Lionstripe didn't seem upset at being made to wait, and a sense of relief washed over her. Graywind didn't like waiting for patrols, and she was sure most others didn't either. His question brought a small smile to her face, too. She was pretty sure Lionstripe hadn't interacted much with her sister, if at all. It could've just been him being polite, though Graywind liked to think her clanmates genuinely cared for one another.

"Hmm... Maybe some feathers for her nest? Can't be comfortable cooped up in that den." She mused, golden eyes lifting to the trees.

A starling fluttered to a low branch nearby, and Graywind watched it for a moment, gold-lined dark feathers shimmering in the sunlight. With a glance at Lionstripe, the silver she-cat dropped into a crouch, quietly moving toward it. She leaped, shoving off the ground with the strength only Skyclanners had, claws catching the bird. A swift nip to the back of the head, and she was on the ground again, glancing back toward Lionstripe.

"So how's being a warrior? Still feels strange not to be waiting for our mentors, doesn't it?"

Graywind attempted to hunt a bird. Catch was successful.
