"Training," Sparrowthorn said quietly, leading her new apprentice out onto the moor. "Hunting first, maybe combat if we have time." Waving her tail in an effort to have Aspenpaw keep up, she lead him to a flat, mostly-grassless area. "Here, stay." For a moment, she wandered away, scenting the air. There was prey nearby, but far enough that their voices wouldn't scare it off... unless her apprentice was louder than she anticipated.
Returning to Aspenpaw, she began to speak in her low voice. "Hunting is important to the clan. It feeds us, keeps us strong and healthy. Learning it now and becoming an expert at it as you age is a main pillar of being a warrior. It is not a skill to waste. Watch." Lowering her small form, she showed Aspenpaw the hunter's crouch. "You must be low to the ground, we have to hide in the grass. We don't get the luxury of brush like most other clans. When you get close to your prey, you run, you pounce. All Windclanners can run, another main pillar." She lifted herself back up, deadpan expression back on Aspenpaw.
"Show me what I just showed you. If your form is good enough, I'll let you go try to catch your first prey."
