Subject: Sunpaw's Warrior Ceremony Thu 23 Mar 2023 - 15:47
Birdstar
Another one of Wolfblossom’s kits was ready to earn his name. Sunpaw was to be joining his brother in the warrior’s den today. Quickpaw and Graypaw had each had their training stalled, though they were making good progress regardless, while he had faced no obstacles and had made it easily through his training. The sisters would catch up soon, but this was their brother’s day. Clearing her thoughts, Birdstar swept her gaze across the crowd until her eyes landed on his familiar pelt. When she spotted him, she called out, “Let all cats old enough to climb the trees gather below the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!”

Sunpaw made his way to sit with the rest of SkyClan at Birdstar's summons. His steady yellow gaze fixated on the leader's face as she waited for them to assemble. Falconmoon's warrior ceremony had been less than half a moon ago - and if any of them were chomping at the bit to be named next, it was Sunpaw. His feathery dappled tail flicked casually back and forth, betraying his otherwise collected expression, but his heart quickened in anticipation, and longing for this to be his warrior ceremony.
Sunpaw was quick to appear at her call. Birdstar allowed a moment for the rest of the Clan to settle, though there were a few still shuffling into place when she flicked her tail and beckoned, “Sunpaw, please step forward.” The success of Wolfblossom’s kits excited her, and when the shock of time wore off, she was eager to announce the name. As he approached the Tallbranch, Birdstar went on, “StarClan, I call upon you to look down on this apprentice. He’s trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in turn. Sunpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?”
Thank the stars, he'd been right... this was his ceremony, and he was ready. As soon as she'd called his name, Sunpaw was on his feet and moving forward, looking up at Birdstar. She said her words, the same way they'd been said at Falconmoon's ceremony, and Sunpaw answered, smooth and deliberate. "I do."
There wasn’t any hesitance before the somber question had its responding vow. Birdstar ducked her head in a respectful nod before raising her voice again. “Then I grant you your full name as a warrior. From this day on, you will be known to all as Sunfire. SkyClan honors your drive and courage.” Leaping smoothly off the Tallbranch, Birdstar padded over to press her nose against her nephew’s head. “I hope your vigil is short and quiet, Sunfire,” she murmured, pride warming her voice, before backing away to join the crowd in cheering.
Falconmoon watched the ceremony with a swell of pride. His fur even stood up with excitement when Sunpaw was called forward. He was giving his warrior name, Sunfire, and Falconmoon fearlessly lead the chant.
"Sunfire! Sunfire!" The instant he was permitted to speak to clanmates, Falconmoon nearly galloped up to him. He gave him a slightly over enthusiastic headbutt to his head in congratulations, but he was a warrior now. He could handle it!
"Congratulations, brother!" He nudged him playfully with a shoulder before he made room for others to congratulate him as well.
"Sunfire! Sunfire!" Wolfblossom and Graypaw's voice were the loudest alongside Falconmoon's as the ceremony was completed. Wolfblossom padded up to the newly-named warrior, a loud purr rumbling in her throat. "Congratulations, Sunfire! I'm so proud of you!" She grinned.
"Congrats!" Graypaw mewed, her reaction somewhat more subdued than her brother or mother's had been, but she was genuinely happy for Sunfire. "Sunfire... It suits you."
