Poppyshine entered the medicine den. With the warmer weather, it would be far easier to find herbs to keep the den stocked, but herbs was not what she was concerned about at the moment. Her gaze fell onto her daughter and her heart squeezed. She knew all of her children were taking Sootspirit’s and Minksplash’s deaths hard, but Sandyshell had always been an especially sensitive soul. Poppyshine was worried about her most of all.

She approached Sandyshell and meowed, “Can you spare a bit of time away from camp to walk with me?” she asked. “I wanted to do a small walk around the territory and hoped you would join me.” She could check in with her daughter when they were away from camp and the responsibilities of her medicine den. The privacy and separation from her job would do well, Poppyshine was sure.
