Falconkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Wolfblossom was excited. Skyclan had been doing very well recently, despite the ever-present chaos around them and the snow that still carpeted the forest in white, and she couldn't quite believe that her kits had reached the age of six moons old already. It seemed like not long ago that they had just been scraps of fur at her belly, but they had all grown quickly. Her firstborn would be named an apprentice today, and it wouldn't be long before his siblings followed. The deputy sat on the tallbranch, gazing out over camp for a moment. She had thought about these ceremonies for some time, but now they would actually be happening.

"Let all Skyclanners old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!"

Falconkit had hardly slept the night before, but for once it had nothing to do with his constant stream of bad dreams. This time he was just excited. Once he heard his mother get up and pad out to the Tallbranch, he was already on his feet in anticipation. She called for a meeting and Falconkit bolted out of the nursery like his tail was on fire. He slid to a stop on his rear and looked up, practically vibrating with excitement. Someone was getting their apprentice ceremony today... and he couldn't wait to see who!

Wolfblossom smiled softly down as Falconkit padded from the nursery. For once his lack of sleep the night before had seemed more like excitement than bad dreams, though Wolfblossom hadn't let on whose ceremonies she would be performing. She'd noticed her kits slowly becoming impatient as they had reached six moons, so perhaps this ceremony wouldn't be too much of a surprise. She waited a few more moments, allowing the clan to gather before she spoke.

"Falconkit, step forward." She wasn't much better at hiding her excitement, it seemed, but this was her kit, after all. When Falconkit stepped forward, the deputy continued, "You have reached the age of six moons old, and it is time you become an apprentice. From now until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Falconpaw. Smokestep will be your mentor. She's a kind soul and I trust that she will pass on all the knowledge I taught her." She had given this choice much thought, but she knew her former apprentice well. She was hesitant when it came to all things violence, but she knew and understood the ways of the warrior code and was a good cat. Wolfblossom trusted Smokestep to train Falconpaw to the best of her abilities. She might learn a thing or two about herself along the way.
