Subject: Beetlepaw's Warrior Ceremony Tue 7 Feb 2023 - 19:49
Birdstar
It was a slow and at times taxing venture, but SkyClan was steadily putting themselves together. There was a surge of great fondness and pride as she took her place upon the Tallbranch and looked out across camp. Laid in still ruins for moons, and so recently it looked like it could not be a home again... but it was. The work put into rebuilding dens, strengthening camp, and cleaning the territory had all paid off. The warmth in her chest made her feel particularly excited about the ceremony she was about to start, and Birdstar's voice was light and smooth when she called, "All cats old enough to climb the trees, gather beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!"
It had been a breath of fresh air to return to the camp, no longer having to feel constantly out of place at Fourtrees. Beetlepaw had let himself relax into the familiarity that he had known when he was young, and it had made him realize that he could no longer really think of himself as such. It had been seasons and seasons, and all he wanted to do was finally take his place in the warrior's den, right next to Dawnfeather.
When Birdstar called the meeting together, he knew exactly what it was about. Excitement tingled in his paws as he approached, the oldest apprentice but not for much longer. While he waited, his golden eyes scanned the gathering cats for one particular red shape. He wanted Dawnfeather to be with him for this important moment. It had been a long time coming.
"speech."

Birdstar nodded toward Beetlepaw when he appeared among the crowd. He was the oldest apprentice in SkyClan, though he could hardly be just an apprentice anymore– he'd naturally aged during his seasons away, and it was time for him to finally take his title as a warrior. "Beetlepaw, step forward, please," she called, waiting another few moments for the tom to do so. Once he had, the leader went on, "StarClan, I call upon you to look down on this apprentice. He's trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in turn. Beetlepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
The large tom turned his attention back to Birdstar when she began to speak, excitement clear in his amber eyes. He had never been one to hide his feelings, and that wasn't going to change with a change in rank. Beetlepaw stepped forward, understanding that this would be the last time his apprentice name was used.
"I do." He spoke with more seriousness than his voice usually contained, dipping his head slightly.
"speech."

Birdstar
Beetlepaw came forward and bowed his head, the short promise clear and excited when he issued his response. Birdstar issued a nod of her own, focused quietly on the tom for a moment before raising her voice. "Then I grant you your well-earned name as a warrior. From this day on, you will be known to all as Beetlestrike. You are protective and kind, and SkyClan honors this in you." Leaping off the Tallbranch, Birdstar crossed the distance between them to touch her nose lightly to the newly-named warrior's head. "Congratulations, Beetlestrike. I hope your vigil is an easy one."

Beetlestrike, he thought to himself, a shiver of delight making his pelt prickle. He hadn't been expecting such a strong and aggressive name, but he knew that it rang true if any cat he cared for was in trouble. He purred as his leader touched her nose to the top of his head, giving her shoulder a respectful lick.
"Thank you," he murmured, then turned his attention to the vigil before him. It was going to be a long night, but his pride and renewed excitement towards being a warrior would carry him through. He wouldn't let SkyClan down.
"speech."
