First Day of School!!!

Swiftheart awoke in the evening. Shadowclan was nocturnal and so their schedule was flipped.

She stretched with a yawn as she blinked a couple times watching the sunset dip down below the tall pines outside their camp.

She was a very sociable, happy, energetic cat who still had alot of apprentice/kitishness in her.

She was known among her clanmates to usually be in a good mood and be optimistic about most things. She was so happy to once again have an apprentice to train. She had two appretnices before, the first was deerpaw who she loved training so much, Deerpaw had died sacrificing herself to bring the stars back from the dark forest.

Her second apprentice was Harepaw her younger sister. She had also unfortunately passed from heart failure. Swiftheart promised herself that she would do anything in her power to now protect her third appretnice Cinderpaw.


She woke up a little more and eagerly went over to the appretnice den the usual skip and pep in her step of the excitment she held.

She purred so excited for this. She gave her fur a quick pat down to make it not stick up in some spots.

She then called for her apprentice "Cinderpaw? Are you ready to train? she whispered poking her head into the apprentice den.


She hoped so much that their first day out togetehr would be great and enjoyable for Cinderpaw and she hoped that she would do a good job for her apprentice. She was blessed in that both her prior apprentices and her had amazing relationships and she hoped that this time would be the same too!

"Yes! Yes, I'm ready Swiftheart!" Cinderpaw mewed as she stumbled out of the apprentice den, her fur wild and messy. A stray bit of moss clung to her whiskers as she tried to shake it off impatiently. She had slept well enough, but she was so excited to begin her training that she didn't want to take the time to make herself presentable, she just wanted to go. "What are we doing today Swiftheart? Are we hunting? Oh I hope so, I want to catch the biggest frog to show ma!" She gushed, a wide smile stretching across her face.

Swiftheart purred eagerly.  She also got messy fur that wouldn’t cooperate at times so the feeling was well known.  Cinderpaw wanting to catch something nice for her ma made swiftheart think back to when she was an apprentice and she wanted to do the same for murkystar.  She missed her mother a lot and often found herself wondering where murky went since she no longer lived among the stars.

Being an optimist, swiftheart belived that murkystar now lived somewhere so beautiful and peaceful, a nice forest somewhere with a clearing that overlooked a waterfall maybe and with sunsets that painted the skies.  Or other times she would think it was a little different but in all of them she belived her mother to be happy at least.  It was the only way she could deal with what had happened.  

Blinking a couple of times she refocused on the present and nodded eagerly.  Ok yeah great!  I’ll show you the bestest spots for frog catchin she purred eagerly barely able to contain her excitement now.  

She rested her tail on cinderpaws shoulder briefly and began to lead her out of camp and into the swampy territory.  The winter was still super cold but the slow thaw of the days finally beginning to warm meant the snow was extra mucky and icky.  It was a good thing neither of them minded getting a little muddy.


She got to a relatively dry spot of their land and stopped. Alright so the idea is pretty simple, you have to be as sneaky and quiet as possible.  You crouch down low like this she demonstrated next to cinderpaw to show her.  Then, sneak up on the prey till you are close enough to pounce on it. she purred grinning as she stood back up.  

Here, you try I know you will be great at it swiftheart exclaimed.  She was always super positive and happy and being out with an apprentice was the bestest gift she could ever have gotten
