Fawneye had been awake for a while, she liked to wake up early, take time to groom herself, allow her body time to fully wake up before getting on with her day. The she-cat's mind was clouded with worries abouther performance as a mentor. She hadn't really seen herself as a mentor, and even now it was hard to believe. Well..it's now or never. The warrior huffed and got to her paws, making her way to the apprentice den before finding Darkpaw within and gently putting a paw on his shoulder, "Darkpaw.." she whispered, "C'mon, let's go hunting." she meowed softly, hoping she wouldn't scare him. SHe backed out of the den, making sure she didn't trample any of the other apprentices and waited for him.
As they walked through the territory, Fawneye was quick to point out the way to Windclan, and the way to the Twolegplace farm. He ought to know where they were anyways, even if he wouldn't be going out without a warrior. While Fawneye enjoyed having fun and often looked for the bright side in everything, she was also very much a devout Starclan believer and although she may walk the line of getting into trouble, she wouldn't ever break the code or be happy if Darkpaw did. There was a time when she as an apprentice had taken a bite of fish before feeding the elders, it was then that Fawneye was put on elder duties until her mentor saw it fit for her to return to training. If Darkpaw were to disobey her she may implement the same sort of punishment. That was, if she ever found out about it.
"Mm. Here we are!" she chirped, nimbly crossing the river, to Sunningrocks. "We'll practice our fishing today." Fawneye decided, waiting patiently for her apprentice to cross the river, "Do you have any questions before we begin?"

Darkpaw ☆ RiverClan
Darkpaw focused hard as Fawneye led him through RiverClan territory. She pointed out where WindClan territory started, as well as the distant Twolegplace, which Darkpaw hoped he'd never have to go to. As they crossed the river towards Sunningrocks, Darkpaw glanced down at the rushing water, dark and murky from the many nights of rain the forest had seen lately. But he trusted his mentor not to lead him anywhere dangerous, especially not while he was such a new apprentice.
Darkpaw gave a final trot across the last few stones, landing comfortably on the other side. Questions? he thought, echoing Fawneye's words. The dark apprentice felt like he was nothing but questions. "Er...should I know how to swim before I try and catch a fish?" Darkpaw asked his mentor, flattening his ears at the idea. He'd never tried swimming before, and with how high the river was, he couldn't help but shiver at the idea of being pulled into its depths.
Her crystal blue eyes widened and blinked at her apprentice, "Your mother didn't teach you how to swim?" she inquired incredulously. The ragdoll shook her head but sighed, "No matter, we'll finish the day off with some swimming practice in the Broken Pools then. You don't need to know how to swim to fish - just as long as you're careful. And if you fall in I'll save ya." She winked. The warrior didn't want her apprentice to feel like he had to know how to swim pre-apprenticeship, it was her job after all - to teach. She gave him an encouraging smile as she stepped up to the bank of the river which was much higher than normal. As Fawneye stared into the depths of the river, she let the sounds of the water and her instincts take over, "Plus, Darkpaw. Go big or go home -eh?" she meowed cheerfully as she spotted the dark figure of a fish below her and lashed a paw into the icy water.
Fawneye is attempting to catch a fish! She failed and encountered an owl!
Just as her paw entered the water a piercing screech reached her ears and instantly the white-furred warrior was on alert, her fur rose on her spine and her ears flattened to her head as she looked up to see quite the large owl descending upon them. Perhaps it was going after the fish she was about to catch, she wasn't sure. All she knew was that it was closing in fast, and she had to act faster. "Get back!" Fawneye yowled attempting to push her apprentice back just as it's sharp talons reached out to catch him. Instead, the owl sliced Fawneye's chest fur, scarlet red staining her alabaster fur as she hissed in pain. "Darkpaw, it's looking at me, try and attack it while it isn't focused on you!" she hollered, spitting at the owl to keep its attention on her.

Darkpaw ☆ RiverClan
Darkpaw tried not to worry about Fawneye's words. Truthfully, his mother hadn't taught him much of anything, least of all important RiverClan cat knowledge like how to swim. But he felt his paws tingle with excitement at the thought of finally learning, regardless of how fast the river had been running as of late.
That excitement vanished as the owl swooped into view. Darkpaw was frozen solid at the sight of impossibly sharp talons heading straight towards him. At once, Fawneye knocked the owl out of the way, taking the blow herself with a furious hiss.
At Fawneye's command to attack the owl, Darkpaw flattened his ears with determination. He had an idea that, if it worked, would both distract the owl and hopefully give Fawneye the chance to attack it again. Letting out a yowl, he charged forward, claws outstretched. Darkpaw clamped his teeth down onto the owl's tailfeathers, pulling it sharply back and into the dusk beneath them. The owl screeched in surprise.
Pride rushed through her as her apprentice knocked the owl on its back, a hiss of satisfaction exiting her as she watched it thrash momentarily before gaining its balance. "Yes!" she shouted in encouragement, flexing her claws and lashing her tail, "If we play our paws right, we'll be able to take this and some fish home for our clan! The elder's will appreciate the feathers lining their nest." she purred as she prepared to launch her next attack. The warrior then launched herself at the creature, sinking her needle-sharp teeth into its outstretched wing. Her jaws were strong from moons tearing through the strong flesh of fish. The owl exclaimed but was quick to recover this time, "The owl is going to attack again soon! Be careful with your next attack!"
Fawneye used Snap. It dealt 8 DMG and cost her -5 SP. The Owl is no longer stunned by Darkpaw's Tail Yank.

Darkpaw ☆ RiverClan
Darkpaw could hear the blood pounding through his ears as he watched Fawneye snap ferociously at the owl. Would the owl turn on him next, or was it still too distracted by his mentor? Not giving the predator time to decide, Darkpaw leaped forward, landing on top of the owl and bowling it over. With the owl's wing damaged from Fawneye's teeth, he was confident that he could keep it down long enough for his mentor to attack again. If only the thing would stop thrashing!! Darkpaw thought, gripping his claws onto the creature in a desperate attempt to keep it down.
