Subject: Relax, Kid [Rookkit] Tue 24 Jan 2023 - 9:11
The border patrol he'd been assigned to had wrapped up, blessedly uneventful. He'd been glad to throw himself into hunting and patrolling since returning to Riverclan, simply happy to hear the rush of the river and feel sand under his paws again. The air was unfortunately much too cold, but even that was preferred to spending his days wasting away in a stuffy twoleg nest.
Flamegaze padded back into camp, splitting from his patrolmates with a friendly wave of his tail. His patrol had been one of the first back it seemed, as the camp was fairly quiet still. Ah, well. With a sigh, the flame point found a spot near the reeds, he'd rest his paws for a bit, then join another patrol toward the evening, hopefully.
Rookkit's nap had been disturbed by fitful dreams, forcing them awake and leaving them unable to fall back asleep. For a considerable time, they'd stayed in the nursery, curled up against Larkkit's side while their brother continued to sleep. But as long as they tried to hold themself there, restlessness made their paws itch and they could not stay laying down any longer. They would just take a brief walk then come straight back, hopefully before Larkkit woke up. Carefully disentangling themself from the other kit, Rookkit flicked their tail over his hip as a farewell and stepped quietly out of the den.
When they had nothing better to do, they'd taken time to stalking through the reeds and prodding at the edges of camp lately. The reedstalks felt strange but not unpleasant against their fur, and nosing at the barriers was a test of security, more than anything. Today, they chose the reeds: the plants brushed and rattled around them as they padded quietly between, lost in thought. Eventually, Rookkit settled, sitting down with a quiet sigh. The sound of approaching pawsteps made them look back up, and through the stalks they saw the face of a warrior they didn't recognize, but knew to be one of the cats who had been taken. Their mind flicked back to their dreams, full of shouting and running, and Rookkit poked their muzzle unceremoniously out of the grasses to stare up at the flame point. "Do you recall where the twolegs took you?"

Flamegaze jumped as the nose of a kit poked out of the reeds, curious face staring up at him and an immediate question was given. No greeting, no 'hello,' only a sharp reminder of what he'd only so recently escaped from. "Hi, how are you? Good? That's good. I'm Flamegaze, you're... Rook...?kit, right? Nice to meet you." He muttered dryly, though the lack of manners was off-putting, he was only a kit after all. Flamegaze wouldn't hold it against him. Much. And it would be better to answer the question than deflect, probably. An answer would satisfy the kit's curiosity. Or maybe just lead to more questions.
"They took me outside of the forest, into one of their own territories. The cutter's, specifically. And they took other clan cats too, even the leader of Shadowclan." He started, "It was a horrible place, nothing any cat should have to be held in. They kept us in these dens made of silvery tendrils, hardly bigger than some of our own nests, with no room to move around. Sometimes they took us out and brought us to different parts of their den for short periods to let us stretch."
