Hickorypaw had been sleeping for longer than he'd ever slept in his life. When he finally woke up, he wasn't sure what had happened, or why he couldn't move his back legs. He wasn't allowed out of the den for a couple of days after that, only a few select cats even knew he was finally awake. Today was the day the brown ghost tabby was finally allowed outside of the cramped space to get some fresh air. Of course, he was a little worried about moving around only using his front legs, but... Hopefully it was only temporary, right?
Stretching his forelimbs and slowly picking out bits and pieces of moss that clung to his pelt, he awkwardly pulled himself out of the medicine den, almost falling over onto his side a couple of times, and he still wasn't quite sure which direction was left and right. The bright sun was blinding from sleeping and being inside for so long, and he hesitated before pulling himself into the clearing. He hissed in pain as he tried sitting up, feeling as if sharp stones were pricking him in the back.
Quietly he sat there, breathing in the clear air of the camp, and hoping he'd have someone to talk to.

Poppyshine
Poppyshine had tried to visit Hickorypaw as much as she could between caring for the clan. She understood how Hickorypaw must feel, being trapped in the medicine den for so long. Poppyshine had not enjoyed her month-long stay in the den when she had grown ill, and Hickorypaw must feel even worse. So, whenever she was able to, she went to visit him and spend some time with him, share a meal, and so on.
She spotted him immediately when he pulled himself out of the medicine den. She instinctively hurried to his side, wanting to help…but she remembered Woolywing and how he had to learn to do things differently, but did not always need help unless he asked. Poppyshine forced herself to restrain and she just came to a stop in front of her son and gave him a smile. “It’s wonderful to see you up and about, Hickorypaw,” she purred as she took a seat with him. “How are you feeling today?”
