Astraeus lazily traced a path through the fresh-fallen snow, languid yellow eyes wandering past the farm and to the lands beyond. A gust of wind danced past his whiskers, twirling away beyond the low stone wall and desolate heath, to where the early morning sunbeams tainted the sky with shades of gold. The winds were calling his name again. He knew it would be simply a matter of time. Yet- it was not time, not quite yet. The silvery tom had a few more words to say before he left the forest behind to resume this wandering life he held so dear- and so he continued his morning walk, seemingly indifferent to his surroundings yet keeping a keen eye on the dogs. One day soon, they’d let him slip past. Everything did, eventually- call it luck or skill, Astraeus had never met a situation he couldn’t escape.
The silvery loner stretched, yawning, every muscle relaxed. His paw still stung, but soon enough he would be able to travel again. Ah, one of the few things to thank his father for- his knowledge of herbs. And awareness of his surroundings- for there was cat-scent on the breeze.

Adjusting to life at the farm was proving to be... difficult, to say the least about it. Dayquill was heart-sick, missing desperately his new mate, his family, his home. There were so many cats he worried for, but Blazefang most of all. He had just spoken with Mottlestar about bringing her to ThunderClan, he was supposed to be there to talk with Shrikestar, he was... He was here. At this mouse-brained farm, so far away from anything he knew. His tail flicked with agitation the more he thought about it. And that she was expecting kits– he could only hope to be met with the best when he returned to the forest. He refused to entertain thinking about the worst.
Sighing, Dayquill shook himself out, and felt immediately dizzied by the action. He'd been having a bit of trouble in that regard, too– blurry vision. And pain, too, or– not quite pain. Pressure, maybe, was the better word. He spent a lot of time blinking just to see straight. Was the lingering irritation and soreness just from getting caught up in some brambles? Well, if that was the case, that was ridiculous. He'd been through bramble bushes more times than he could count. Huffing, Dayquill blinked rapidly until he could at least see well enough to walk in a straight line and marched into the snow. It was cold and clinging to his legs, but he was shivering for a different reason. Leaf-bare always made him think about how it felt to be hungry, about the Dark Forest. A particularly harsh shudder went through him, and made me stall to wait for his eyes to catch up again.
He had not actually stopped though, only slowed his pace a bit. And he was so focused on willing some focus back to his vision, he had not caught the appearance of another cat until he was only a tail-length away. Drawing to a quick halt, Dayquill lifted his chin, eyes narrowing until the picture of the tom in front of him looked whole. He'd seen the silver cat with his burning eyes around once or twice, but had never managed to catch his name or anything about him. Shuffling back a step, he mewed, "Oh, hi. I... sorry. I didn't mean to get so close to you, uh... to...?"
