Freefall [closed]

Smallbean watched Coyotegrin from the opposite end of camp, a worried expression plaguing his features. Losing family members was something that he'd experienced many times over. He could sympathize with the grief she felt, but he couldn't relate to the anger and thirst for revenge. Something that he'd always wanted was an ear to listen or someone to reassure him. But he and Coyotegrin were vastly different, although any cat could look at her and know that she felt grief for those she had lost. Not to mention the rampage she went on without letting anyone else know, injuring herself in the process. It was luck that she'd returned alive.

Slowly, he padded toward her, picking up a rabbit from the fresh-kill pile as he went. Dropping the rabbit at her paws, he greeted her with a quiet, "Hey, Coyotegrin," averting his eyes. "I brought you a rabbit in case you haven't eaten yet today... Are you hungry? I wanted to check on you, make sure that you were... doing better." He avoided using the word okay. Nobody ever felt okay when grieving family. No words came into his mind, he didn't really know where to go from there. Saying that he knew how she felt probably wasn't something that she wanted to hear. "Do you... Do you want to talk about it?" Apparently his words carried some weight from his experience, he'd learned that from Batsong. Batsong was a lot easier to open up and talk, though. Smallbean had always thought of Coyotegrin to be the type to deal with her problems privately, although he didn't really know her all that well. He expected for her to turn down his offers, but he would still try.
