… think again [c]

Russetpaw had sparred so many cats lately, yet it still felt like she was missing something. She wanted someone who would not hold back, yet who would still offer criticism and not absolutely annihilate her. She wanted someone who embodied WindClan: tall, lanky, speedy (hah); swift and strong. Didn’t Sleepypaw have another older sibling, other than the currently-missing Whisperear? Daisybreeze, that was her name. She would probably be sad that her littermate was missing… and could use some cheering up! Russetpaw herself was in a cheery mood, today, fresh off of the laughter and excitement of a race across the moor. Few of the worries that had been gnawing at her gut lately were present today; and that meant that it was time to cheer someone else up!

The red-pelted apprentice bounded up to Daisybreeze, a wide grin on her face. “Eya, Daisybreeze! Wanna spar? I won’t go easy on ya, promise,” she added with a wink, not even thinking to introduce herself. They were a Clan! Everyone knew everyone else. This calico was the perfect candidate to get to know further while also improving her battle skills. Shrikestar had to make her a warrior soon… yet she didn’t know what she felt about that, yet.

Daisybreeze was sitting over to the side of their temp camp. She still was pretty hard on herself and thought that everyone in the clan didnt like her because of what she had done, Adder and Whisper didnt even like to be around her anymore.


She was supprised when someone was coming over and she glanced over to see a rusty colored apprentice. Russetpaw! Yeah she knew of her. She was her younger sisters best friend. Sleepypaw and Russetpaw were practically inseperable.


Daisybreeze couldnt help but hold back a grin at the suggestion, Russetpaw reminded her alot of herself as an apprentice, She had been super competitive back then.

"oh its on!... Ill have you know I actually won my appretnice competition when we had em back when I was an appretnice she couldnt help but to say that.

She nudged Russetpaw playfully and nodded "I dont want you to go easy I might be too bored if ya did she challenged but gave a playful wink to go with it.

"yeah lets do it!" she purred eagerly, this was what she needed, something to get her mind off the constant worry about how her clan didnt want her anymore.... besides it was just a mistake and the apprentices were still okay with her


"I saw a softer ground over here nearby" she mewed leading Russetpaw over to where there werent so many rocks and it was covered in lots of moss underpaw to provide a nice stage for their practice spar.


Daisybreeze grinned "alright... lets see what ya got.. ill even let you have the first hit she watched the apprentices next move carefully

“Just ‘cause ya won some old dusty competition doesn’t mean I can’t win this ‘un!” Russetpaw mewed, trying not to think of the competition she’d most certainly not won. “Ooh, that’s a good idea,” she said, bounding after Daisybreeze, paws thrumming the earth. Alright. First move. The apprentice settled into a fighting crouch, pinning her ears back like she would in a real fight, though she knew Daisybreeze wouldn’t actually use claws. Still. Practice. Electric blue eyes narrowed to slits as she thought quickly. Hmmm. Leading with a pin would be too tiring. She didn’t want to just stick with what she’d done while fighting Blazefang… hmmm.

The very tip of the red-pelted apprentice’s tail twitched, once. She flicked an ear- then charged like Shadepaw had done, ramming herself into Daisybreeze’s shoulder with all the strength she could muster, then darting back, hoping to avoid a counterattack. She’d learned that she had the best chance of winning if her opponent was over-confident and didn’t take her seriously- would that be Daisybreeze? “Take that!” she mewed, skipping back, eyes watching her opponent’s every move like a cornered hare. This was slightly less tiring, at least, but she worried that her Blazefang-strategy was more powerful.

Daisybreeze grinned at the apprentice's comments:  yup! Just like her when she was that age.

Daisybreeze was so happy to be training with someone, or even just having someone for company.  Ever since her fight with whisper she had kinda lived almost like a loner.  Yes she still was apart of windclan but she hunted alone because no one wanted to hunt with her, patroled alone for the same reason and slept on the outskirts of camp.

She had applogized and tried to fix her mistakes but the people she had wronged were not quick to forgive and in her mind they were valid in doing so.


This was one of the first times in a long while that she had gotten to have someone to do something with.  Russetpaw might not consider her a friend yet, but Russetpaw had already reached legendary best friend status in Daisybreezes mind.


The apprentice got a quick hit on her and Daisybreeze was suprised by her speed.  But Russetpaw skipped outta there right after landing it.

Daisybreeze was a much more agressive style in fighting, she liked big hits big risks.

"alright, that was pretty good but why are you over there now? she asked tilting her head and giving a little shake afterwards

"No no no, When you are pressing do not let up, you coulda gotten more hits in if you stuck with it. she instructed.

This was Daisybreeze's style of fighting, it might of been different that what silver taught her.  But it was good for the apprentice to see different styles in case she ran into an opponent.  Best to have seen lots of techniques in practice.


"hmm, be more aggressive , like this! she mewed with a soft growl afterwards simulating a real battle as she ran right at the apprentice bearing down on her.

She ducked low at the last second and attempted to paw at Russets belly.  She made sure no claws were used, this was just practice and shed learned the super hard way about accidently hurting clanmates.

but it did not work out at all like the warrior had thought it would in her head.  What actually ended up happening is she missed Russetpaw completly and was now smack down in the dusty ground! OOOF that was embarrassing.

She scampered back up to her paws pelt hot with embarrasment. She couldnt help but to let out a nervous laugh though ...

"erm ... maybe not exactly like that"

“Yeah, an’ gotten totally annihilated in one hit,” Russetpaw mewed, eyes ablaze with competition. “I ain’t fallin’ for that trick! I’m likea rabbit, can’t catch me!” Daisybreeze moved towards her, and Russetpaw skipped out of the way, barely holding in a giggle as the calico warrior flopped on the ground. “You can have dog-Grr-run-at-people strategy, I’ll stick ta me rabbit strategy!” Taking advantage of the other’s momentary unbalance, Russetpaw moved in for the (metaphorical) kill, a swipe there and then a swipe there as she danced around the other molly, keeping her claws sheathed yet putting real force behind each blow. She was like a gust of wind, now on this side and now the other.

Russetpaw knew she probably couldn’t keep this up forever, but it was fun! And good practice, and both of those things were good, to her. Daisybreeze was a fun sparring partner, even though she hadn’t gotten a hit in yet- but Russetpaw knew that, once she did, it would be a strong one.

Daisybreeze was still a bit embarrased that an apprentice was giving her this much trouble ... maybe her fighting had gotten a bit out of shape.

Not that she would ever admit that! Russetpaw was dodging and weaving and hopping all around and using quick strikes against her... how did the appretnice have so much energy!?

She really was like a bunny strategy fighting style.

Dasiybreeze wasnt gonna change anything that she did though, she liked her own style of dog attacks as the appretnice called it... charge at em and brute force it!

She decided to try again, she just got unlucky the first time.  And besides, no one had ever accused her of being a quick learner.


She ran at Russetpaw again, she was enjoying this, it was fun to get back into things again.

Daisybreeze is going for it again! Belly rake attempt 2!

Yes! that time it worked out, finally! The appretnice was fast... but not fast enough.


She pawed at Russets exposed belly, very careful not to actually hurt her but enough to get the point across that in a real battle the opponent coulda really done some damage there.


"hehe, as a great warrior once said 'timing beats speed' she chuckled winking at her new friend.  She made sure Russetpaw was alright... yeah she was for sure alright the apprentice even had some fight left in her!

Daisybreeze had to admit that this was harder than she thought it was gonna be.

The calico ran at her again, and, admittedly, Russetpaw was not fast enough to dodge- mainly because she most certainly had not expected the other to try such a disastrous tactic again. It would’ve been easier to just pin her down, right? She scrambled away, sticking out her tongue at the warrior’s next words. She’d never heard anyone say that. Daisybreeze probably made it up. The red-pelted apprentice’s sides were heaving, slightly, as she considered her next move. She could do what she’d done with Blazefang, and probably get the other to the point where another apprentice could, theoretically, win… or she could try something totally new!

Russetpaw surged forwards, taking advantage of Daisybreeze’s momentary distraction as the other clambered to her paws, slamming her to the ground with a wide grin. Yeah, Daisybreeze could probably easily defeat her, even when pinned, but hey! This was fun, and she was learnin’… stuff. Yeah. Stuff. It was hard to hold down the more experienced warrior, but she felt less tired than she had after sparring Blazefang. She needed to find a strategy somewhere between the two, where she could do some real damage without getting tired before she could finish.

Russ used Leap and Hold, dealing 5 (MR) damage and costing 15 stamina, active for one turn. Adding 1 HP back to Russet b/c of Moor Runner~

Daisybreeze grinned having gotten the apprentice finally!  But then Russetpaw supprised her and got her in a pin!

GEEZ!! this apprentice was good!  Daisybreeze stuggled to get away.

Pushing at Russetpaw she hated the idea of losing but she was getting tired and if the apprentice kept this up Russet would win.

She managed to try and Duck and spin out of it

Daisybreeze, for all her… something-ness, was, after all, a much more experienced warrior. Russetpaw grimaced as the older she-cat squirmed away, flopping onto her back dramatically, sprawling out like she’d been knocked clean off her paws. “You’ve killed me! Aaaargh, the agony!” She peeked out from under half-closed eyelids, smirking and tapping her paws absentmindedly on the ground. Alright, so she’d lost… but she had learned something! Namely, that rushing up at someone and kicking them hard did, apparently work, some of the time. Hmmm… she might hafta try that.

Daisybreeze grinned at the apprentice and helped her back to her paws after her dramatic play of being "dead" Daisybreeze rolled her eyes a bit at the overdramisim but it was so fun to be able to relax a bit with someone instead of being the clan outcast
