Come play! im bored

Sunkit was playing, as he often is. Rookkit and Larkkit were hidden…well, somewhere in the camp, and he had already spent his morning bothering Twistpool. With both his parents gone and no one else to bother, he was playing alone, attacking a mossball as if his life depended on it. He sent it flying with an excited trill and went racing after it, leaping up to catch it-- and then froze in midair when he heard his name, going tumbling down and rolling over himself before landing sprawled on his back paws.

He turned his head towards where the whisper-yell had come from, blinking before his eyes adjusted to the dimness of the medicine den. He’d never been in the medicine den before, but hey, if he’s being invited in, who’s he to argue? Sunkit grinned and hopped to his feet, unhesitantly marching right in and blinking as his eyes adjusted until they focused on Sprucebark.

“Hi!” He said, immediately starting to circle the warrior with a twitching tail. “Whatcha doing in the medicine den? Are you hurt? You don’t look super hurt. You smell like herbs, didcha know that?” He leaned in and sniffed Sprucebark before stopping his circling in front of him, rocking from paw to paw.

“You knew my name!” Sunkit exclaimed, pleased. He often felt invisible to the older warriors, busy as they were with everything going on. “I don’t know your name.” He confessed with a frown. “What’s your name? What didcha need? Do you need me to get Sandypaw?” He gasped. “Oh, do you need me to go on a mission for ya?! ‘Cause you’re too sick and stuff?” He bounced at the thought.

Sunkit listened to Sprucebark, bouncing on the tips of his toes and wobbling from paw to paw. He wasn’t very good at staying still, but luckily Sprucebark didn’t seem to mind the fidgeting. “Ooh, like hide-and-seek! I’m very good at that!” He puffed his chest out as he bragged.

”No peeking!” Sunkit said as Sprucebark closed his eyes. He bounced on his heels for a moment, then bolted off as Sprucebark began counting. Sprucebark was in the medicine den, which meant he probably couldn’t go too far… Sunkit would have to find a good hiding spot! He scanned the nearby camp, ears straining to catch Sprucebark’s counting.

He grinned when he spotted a good spot, and dashed over. He dove behind the water-logged remains of the warrior’s den, not minding when water soaked into his fur and wiggling down until he was as hidden as he could make himself. He strained to be able to see if Sprucebark was coming, muffling his excited giggles behind his paws.
