With all the thoughts of her current situation, swirling in her brain—Whisperear being taken, moving to Highstones, getting closer and closer to her warrior ceremony—Sleepypaw felt a little overwhelmed, to say the least, and in need of a break. She didn’t like admitting that to herself, and felt a bit guilty in doing so (as lately she barely had time to reset and recharge), but her fellow WindClanners had to understand, right? Coming from somewhere distant to someplace arguably just as unfamiliar was daunting, and then there were the Twolegs... they were their own obstacle to overcome. Naturally, the tricolor calico drew herself away from the group.
Mentally drained, the dame found herself at twilight, bounding away from the masses and rolling eagerly onto her back. The ground felt cool against her silky fur, and she sighed with contentment, anticipating this enjoyable experience. For once, she did not care about anyone’s opinion of her, how she acted or appeared. Instead, she focused solely on the twinkling stars that were now beginning to shine in the darkening sky, with a smile gently resting on her face. Movement caught her eye and she twisted to look. A marbled lynx point lay near her. And Sleepypaw didn't mind the company, "Hello." she mewed softly, not wanting to ruin the peace of the stars.

Night had fallen, and Brackenwing found herself unable to sleep. Perhaps it was a bit of her mother shining through, Swiftspirit's insomnia passed on to her daughter, or that she was just lost in thought, or the pain from her still yet-healed broken leg. More likely, a combination of the three. The stars shone overhead, and while Windclan was on supposedly important ground, to Brackenwing this was just a mountainside and the night sky was just that, nothing more.
Movement at the edge of her vision made her head turn briefly, but upon realizing it was one of her own clanmates Brackenwing's gaze turned once more, staring out at the sprawling moorland and forest below. Even from such a distance, the scars the great quaking had left upon Windclan territory were visible, the massive tear that had split the moors a darker stain against the landscape.
A voice calling a soft 'hello' made the marbled tabby's head turn. The apprentice, she realized, and that had her scrambling to remember her name. S... Something. Sleepypaw? Sleepypaw seemed right. One of Coyotegrin's kits. It was with some embarrassment that Brackenwing realized she'd hardly even met them, though she'd not really interacted with much of anyone outside of the medicine cats and the scraps that remained of her own family. And Whisperear, who had been taken from them, who only knew where the gray warrior was now.
"Hey," She replied softly, "Can't sleep either, huh?"

It was odd for the she-cat, famous for being tired, to be up so late in the night. She had never found herself staying up past nightfall before this moment. It felt like she was waiting for a yawn to come but it never did. A strange feeling. As the tabby responded to her, Sleepypaw lifted herself to her paws and moved closer to the warrior, "Yeah..not for lack of trying though." she admitted, sitting down, tail wrapped neatly around her paws. "Mm.. you're Bracken...wing right?" she inquired, looking intently at the warrior's healing leg. She couldn't remember how it happened, but it made her stomach queasy. It made her stomach flip anytime she saw one of her clanmates hurt these days. When did she become such a bleeding heart? Sleepypaw blinked slowly trying to shake the feeling in her stomach.
Sleepypaw brought her head back up to look at the night sky. "D-do you think Whisperear will come back?" she asked, stuttering for the first time in her life. The past few days were full of the most strange moments in life for the calico. And expression feelings and being emotional around a clanmate she had never talked to was definitely on the top of that list. Maybe a part of her thought she'd rarely see Brackenwing around so surely exposing how she felt wouldn't matter.

"Yeah, that's me. Sleepypaw, right?" Not that she seemed to be living up to her name at the moment, but with everything going on, it was understandable. Brackenwing noticed the glance at her injured leg, a soft snort escaping her. "It bothers me too. The sooner Batsong lets me actually do something, the happier I'll be. Being dragged out to fourtrees, and then the trek here, was far from my favorite thing in the world."
The question about Whisperear had been something she too had thought about. "I... I don't know." She admitted quietly, "I'm worried about them. I hope Whisperear can escape, wherever they've been taken." Her striped tail lashed once in frustration. She couldn't have gone out looking for her clanmate if she tried, not that she would even have began to know where to look. This was the farthest she'd ever been from Windclan territory, and Brackenwing couldn't say she liked it.
