Great Silverpelt, he just couldn't catch a break. Before they were able to even begin to head back to the makeshift camp, a weasel jumped out and began to attack Smallbean. Watching the situation unfold in front of him, the plump apprentice surprised even himself that he wasn't exactly afraid of the long, angry little creature, but instead found himself wondering how it might taste. Was it similar to squirrels? Or maybe more lean like rabbits? Well, there was only one way to find out, and that was to bring this nasty little creature back to camp with the rest of their prey, and hopefully soon before it was able to bite more fur off of the deputy.

Momentarily forgetting about the sharp pain on his nose from the mouse bite, Fuzzpaw waited for a few moments before seeing his opportunity. The weasel has jumped up, twisting its long body in a spastic-like manner, and now was his chance. Lunging forward, he stuck out a thick grey paw and slashed sharp claws under it's soft, white belly, sending blood to splatter the ground below. Hopefully they could make quick work of this, for the apprentice was more than ready to get back home.

To Smallbean's surprise, Fuzzpaw proved to be competent in battle. While slowly backing away from the weasel, he watched as the apprentice swooped in from behind and slashed at it's underbelly. While the weasel was now focused on Fuzzpaw, Smallbean darted forward, taking advantage of it's diverted attention and exposed neck. Before the weasel had a chance to lay a claw on Fuzzpaw, he latched on, sinking his fangs into the weasel's throat. Blood welled from the wound but he closed his jaws tighter, pinning the weasel to the earth with his front paws when it began to squirm. Smallbean only squeezed his eyes closed until the struggling ceased, leaving the tiny beast on the ground when he knew that it was dead. Chest heaving (not from exhaustion, but from stress), he mumbled something to fuzzpaw about stopping at a stream on the way back to camp. He couldn't stand the feeling of blood drying on his fur, and his snout was drenched - he'd need to wash it.

Tugging the weasel by it's tail, Smallbean lugged it back up the hill to where the prey was hidden, dropping the weasel just for a moment to speak to Fuzzpaw. "Um.. I'm going to carry the weasel. Can I trust you to carry they prey? You will not be eating anything before we get back to camp." They'd be side by side the trip back, so he was able to keep an eye on the apprentice, but he wouldn't put it past Fuzzpaw to try eating the prey anyways.

Giving Smallbean a nod when he mentioned stopping someplace on the way back, he turned his gaze to the now dead weasel, glad that it was over. Those sure were feisty little creatures and he wondered if it tasted similar to rabbit, or maybe even mouse... well, whatever it tasted like, he hoped it made up for the trouble they'd just went through.

Following the deputy back to where they'd stashed the prey from earlier, he let out a huff and sagged his shoulders in a disappointed manner. "Fiiinnneeee," he whined in reply to Smallbean's instructions about not eating the prey on the way back. His whole clan wanted him to starve, apparently. Shoving the prey together, he picked them up as well as he could, though it was certainly a mouthful. As the taste of blood seeped into his mouth, the grey apprentice's stomach rumbled and he prayed that they could get back to camp as soon as possible.
