Redpaw learned to move carefully through the wetness of his clan's territory. Many curious ponderings went through the apprentice's head, such as the origin of Shadowclan. Were they Riverclan cats mixed with Thunderclan cats? Their territory seemed to suggest so. The only thing unique about Shadowclan was their preference for night hunting. That suited Redpaw just fine, a big advantage in the dark where no other cats could see? At least, not quite as well. They avoided the heat of the day and embraced the cold of night; a great strategy in the alleged greenleaf that was supposed to exist. Redpaw had yet to see one. He was born as things began to die.

A rat bolted out from it's hiding spot, losing it's nerve at the sound of light, sloshy paw steps. Redpaw lazer beamed toward it and shot out an unsheathed claw. A crunch gave way under his toes, a lovely feeling and an even more wonderful sound. The sound of death. The sound of his success. Redpaw took the rat between his teeth and stuffed it into a rotted, hollow tree stump. Maybe he'd return it to his clan, maybe he'd have it for himself later. He'd decide when that time came. For now he was more interested in honing his skills. A rat was... well a mild victory compared to the defeat of a predator. Perhaps he'd venture off and find one himself.

'Hunting Dice' : 3

The slow but steady advent of leaf-bare meant that even Thalia was going out of her way to hunt; as plants became scarcer, she left camp just to catch prey instead of flowers. Though more often than not she was less successful than the rest of her Clan (when she had any success at all), she was still happy to provide in whatever way she could. She'd spent the past while chasing mice, missing every pounce she'd attempted by a hair- but this one, the one she was tracking now, was easily within reach. All she needed was a little bit of luck to actually catch it.

Luck was not on her side. The mouse scrambled away before she'd even landed, and the reason why quickly became apparent: a raccoon had made itself known nearby, and caught her with a swipe as she hit the ground.

'Hunting Dice' : 10

A harsh rustling sound caught the ear of red apprentice. He turned his eyes toward the source of the sound in a manner more calm than most would deem appropriate. He watched as a fellow Shadowclanner was swiped by a raccoon, then quickly countered with an unusual maneuver. Redpaw grinned and turned his body in the direction of the scuffle. He approached casually, a lazy walk and a tail held high with a little crook on the tip. He resembled a kittypet happily answering the beckoning of it's master.

"What troublesome creatures we share our home with." Redpaw spoke, a high-pitched, scratchy tone that sounded as if he was constantly sighing or talking through an exhale. His fur was completely flat, his movements fluid, his ears forward and his pupils casually rounded and only slightly elongated. The apprentice was completely at ease.

"Do forgive me for not allowing you to have all of the fun." He said casually, then chuckled a deep, guttural chuckle before he rushed forward with breakneck swiftness. He rolled onto his back and slid, hydroplaning underneath the raccoon and lashed wildly out with his claws, a wild look in his eye and manic, toothy grin across his face.

Redpaw overestimated himself, it seemed, and his claws sliced nothing but open air. The raccoon managed a quick smack on the apprentice's eye, a single deep cut from the top of his brow to the top of his cheek. The apprentice's expression changed in an instant. He rolled back to his feet, his eyes now blazing with fury.

"WORTHLESS CREATURE!" The apprentice bellowed, his voice sounding like a glacier breaking and sliding harshly against the ice beneath. Redpaw bared his fangs and his fur now stood on end. "TEAR OUT IT'S EYES! TEAR OUT IT'S THROAT! BRING IT'S HEART TO ME!" He caterwauled, spit flying from his mouth. The apprentice had gone from completely clam and collected to completely unhinged in the matter of an instant.

Thalia could only watch as Redpaw spoke with confidence, before easily missing his attack and being countered. She resisted the urge to comment on his lack of caution, instead settling for leaping back into the fray. A flurry of slashes from sharpened claws met the masked creature's sides, her rarely-displayed fighting prowess for once on full display. After all, Redpaw might have been seriously injured had things gone just a little differently, and she would always defend her own.

Still, his response was- dramatic, to say the least. "...Are you alright?"
